Adrian had the power to shapeshift, it was one of the few skills that his (true) father had passed down to him. There were a variety of things that he could change into; a wolf, mist, but the most comfortable and he thought most enjoyable by far was shifting into a bat. It seemed like the most natural thing to change into. It took the least amount of energy and it was something he could do from a very early age, he was used to it.
Usually Adrian would never consider changing his shape for no reason, but the recent feedings he'd had (from both Kagome and Alucard) had given him a little temporary boost of strength and, with some free time on his hand (i.e. a hell of a lot of time), he felt like indulging (something he would never normally do but someone had been encouraging his Vampiric tendencies recently)...
Nobody would see him shift, and nobody would probably notice him flying around, and it was so liberating, so fun! What harm could he cause as a bat (and a rather tiny, fluffy one at that).
So, in the privacy of his "home", and, believing he was alone, he changed and ventured out through an open window. He knew exactly where he wanted to go. The park.
It took Adrian much longer than he thought it would to get there, and it had been some time since he had changed his shape so the journey was considerably more tiring that he had expected (although he had enjoyed the flight very much).
Now, seemingly alone in the park, he fluttered about the trees, dodging the pretty golden leaves and weaving between branches. Enjoying the thrill of diving and swooping.
But the act was exhausting and before he knew it he felt the urge to settle down and lay somewhere, just for a moment! Nobody would notice him if he just lay still on the edge of that bench... That was a bench, wasn't it? He couldn't see too well.
