If you enjoyed the show and the movie, you will want to read the free book:
http://dreamcafe.com/firefly.html Stephen Brust has written several books I have enjoyed and this one is no exception. The project to publish Firefly books fell through, but he had already written this book so now he is giving it away.
I was sad that the show was canceled when there were clearly more stories to be told, but I have seen that happen to many shows now and I was not one of the die-hard fans who was really emotional about it. These things happen and life goes on.
Reading the first chapter of this book brought these characters to life for me again in a way that seeing a familiar episode of the show could not. Here they are, dealing with a new situation and doing new things again. I was truly surprised how much I missed them. The novel sometimes reads almost like a script for a new episode where I can imagine how the characters sound and look, then it takes us inside River's mind in a way they probably never could have done in video. Yes, I am back to wishing for new episodes again. I would also love to see more books.
You can find more details about how the book got written with a "brust firefly" search.
I read this book on my phone. I have loved paper books all my life, but lately I have been finding it very convenient to always have a book to read in my pocket by putting a new book on my phone each time I finish one. Most of them I have bought from Baen's Webscriptions:
