First off, can someone explain what exactly an Objectivist is? I've heard several things, and I read Wikipedia, but every time I hear stuff people have written about it, it just seems like rationalizing being overly egotistical and selfish. (No offense Kat, I don't mean this at you. Actually, you're probably the best person to explain exactly what it is...could you do that? You'll be much better than some crazy papers about it.)

Secondly, BME is really pissing me off in some ways. I like the department, and I like the field, but BME 201...it seems designed to piss off the students and make them drop BME. The homework has been insanely long; fluids started slower than BME 201, and that's one of ME's scary courses. On the first day, after reading the prerequisites for the course, the prof threw us a quiz. Granted, it wasn't hard, but after it, she went "Oh, and if you failed this, I highly recommend you drop the course and the major." Ouch. BME should be trying to help students catch up and succeed; not be pretentious and try to look like the hardest engineering department. Its a new department; students need to be encouraged to stay in it so they can expand. And trust me, not remembering the structure of cis-1,2-diethylcyclopentane on the first day of class before we've even opened our organic chemistry book is not something you should be kicked out of BME for.

Whew. That sounded ranty.

Oh, and RJ, your Linux desktop theme rocks. I prefer simplicity, and lighter backgrounds so everything fits in, but your computer looks very very stylish. Even with the crazy crystalline icon set.

Ben is the man. I love the sound system he's loaning me, even if he doesn't like it and doesn't want to use it. 4 speakers and a subwoofer...I just need a longer audio cable and a splitter so the TV and AJ's comp can use it too...then we'll have whole-room surround. I'm thinking about bringing in my sound system and chaining it into this; its doable (there's an extension slot on my sound system) and 6 speaker surround would be gorgeous. Especially with the big TV. Movie night will be much more interesting...Though we haven't had any really large gatherings like last year, due to our distance from everyone.

Ah well.
