Tips for Opening Bands

After the DJ Champion show tonight, I have a couple of tips for opening band:

1)  Try not to suck.  I know this is hard, because you're the opening band and were thus chosen because you were willing to take the shit spot on the billing, and wouldn't show up the main act...  but dear god, you can do better than that.
2)  This one is important.  Show up on time.  This is not optional.  Shit doesn't start until you're there and ready to go.  Your role in things is insignificant, being mostly to try to get the crowd either fired up or else glad you're gone (either way, they'll be in a good mood for the next band, and guess which one you guys were).  When you're late, you fuck that up.  So now, instead of just remembering you as the band that sucks, we remember you both as the band that sucks and the band that can't make a deadline.
3)  Fire your sound tech.  Not only could you have done with some serious adjustment of the sound, but you kept getting feedback squealing.  Course, I wasn't close enough to see, but maybe your singer was just dancing in front of the speakers, in which case you should get her a leash or something.

That band was You Say Party!  We Say Die!

Not to harsh on them too much.  In checking them out after the show, they actually sound decent when they're not live.  They might have been a lot better with a decent sound tech on hand, and a pocketwatch.
