Gawd .... Its been forever and a day.
Mum was here. I thoroughly enjoyed having her around. We talked, laughed, fought, travelled, shopped, walked, ate, cooked, entertained ... I admire my mom for many things. She is brave, social, ever-changing (and growing), curious and just plain fabulous. If I can just be half as gregarious and self assured as she is in social settings, I will consider that an achievement. She has filled my freezer with goodies ! I cannot bring myself to thaw and eat any of it yet though. To start would mean the beginning of the end. Just the pleasure of knowing the food is there is priceless :))
The day mom left I was totally depressed. I locked myself up in my room and generally wallowed. Friends finally found me at 9:00 PM and insisted I watch a movie with them. Felt better after that ...... almost like I re-established a connection with reality. The next week was spent almost entirely at work. Having mom around also means I try to come hope asap and work had begun to pile up. To add to this, I had planned a weeks vacation the next week and had to get things in order. So five hectic days later I was ready for my holiday - all necessary emails had been written and errors updated. The holiday was a welcome lazy break. V and I did some touristy things, visited friends, took a road trip to see cousins ..... basically tried to live a normal life :) I had such a wonderful time ! I actually feel recharged. We really needed this longish together time. We watched 5 movies ....
* Mr and Mrs Smith - worst Bradd Pitt movie I have ever watched. I cannot even think of another one half as bad.
* War of the worlds - Now that is a movie :) I thought the story was very well told. It could so easily have been banal - but it isnt.
* Madagascar - Totally hilarious :)I *loved* king Julian ...... "All hail the New York Giants!" :D
* Motorcycle diaries - Very thought provoking methought. Communist isn't a bad word everywhere.
* Cold Mountain - Am totally awed by Renee Zellweger in this one. A gently told tale of men, women and war.
The love story had a desi feel to it.
Finally got back to my apartment, work and life as I know it yesterday. And thats the recap.
