Through the magic of literary time travel we return to 1938 Chicago, swooping in on the star of The Vampire Files,   undead private eye Jack Fleming. He’s just come down to the lobby of his swank nightclub when girlfriend Bobbi Smythe bursts in. Eyes bright, she’s hatted, gloved, and in a hurry.

Poor Jack doesn't like being on the other end of the interview, does he? Happy for more Bobbi time! I feel like I know her the least out of the principles, I'd love to see a short story from her perspective. Especially after the end of the last book! I'm really excited to see what's coming down the line for everyone now.

Is it wrong that I sometimes wonder how Jack would deal with the '60s? Probably.

Doesn't Jack have a bunch of siblings? And why doesn't he spend the holidays with his family? Besides the obvious reason, anyway. Do they send him gifts for his birthday? How does he feel about his birthday now, anyway? I have so many questions! Quick, get Izzy on the case! I want a full scoop on our enigmatic undead protagonist's private life.

The ghost of Christmas
Past I see, Behind the bar
Lights flickeringly

The ghost of Christmas
Present is here, in stockings
with platinum hair

The ghost of Christmas
Future visits, scrib'ling notes
For her next story

Poor Ebeneezer
Fleming must tote those heavy
Bags about all night

I wonder how he'd deal with the 70's myself, or jump 2 or 3 decades to the 90's-2000 era. That would be funny, jumping him forward in time instead of having Pat jump backwards.

I don't know that Jack's prepared for the media onslaught that is the modern American experience. Although it might be fun to watch him cope with L.A., Times Square, or even the internet. A whole channel devoted to cooking! Period movies from times he hasn't lived through yet! Hybrid cars! Freeways! Angelina Jolie! The mind boggles.

It'd be fun to watch him slowly implode though *snicker*

I like to think the kicker would be him discovering the Victoria's Secret ad directed by Michael Bay. I don't even know how to process that and I'm a product of this era.
