Willamette Writers Conference

Today is the last day of the Willamette Writers Conference. I've been a little too busy to snap pictures left, right and center, per usual, but I've managed to take a few for your viewing pleasure.

We kicked off on Thursday with some pitch practice for the writers and a wine and munchies reception for the VIPs, though those whose bodies were still on East Coast time didn't stay long if they made it at all. Friday it was an agent's panel with Victoria Skurnick from Levine Greenberg Literary Agency, Alex Glass from Trident Media, Peter Miller from PM, Jeff Herman from the Jeff Herman Agency and me. (Note: there were other agents at the conference who spoke at different times.) The rest of the day - and the next - was given over to appointments. Back to back until it was time to leave for dinner. Friday night, they took the film and literary VIPs out to the Oregon Culinary Institute for a wonderful four-course meal. Fantastic wine had also been donated, which lead the film contingent to rousing renditions of television theme songs...although, come to think of it, they might not have needed to be lead. A couple of us (me and Deborah Herman) crossed the book/film divide and were glad we did.

More appointments, then dinner in my room in deference to the migraine that had sprung up. Oh, the glamorous life of an agent. I'm sure it would have been much worse if Miriam Kriss from the Irene Goodman Literary Agency hadn't been kind enough to offer me Aleve and No-doze (aka caffeine) since I'd left my meds at home.

Today yet more appointments. Then my best friend from high school comes in to sightsee with me for a few days before I'm off to the Killer Nashville conference. Powell's Books, here we come! And the Chinese Gardens, the Japanese Gardens and who knows what else. Yes, there will probably be pics. It is me after all.
