Doctor's are so..... so..... well..... human. I guess that's the best word to use for it. They come at a situation with such preconceived notions that you'd think they weren't ever trained in analytical thinking. Here's the situation:

So they're thinking pre-eclampsia? Bascially, the only "cure" for that is not being pregnant anymore, which explains the tendency to lean toward induction. But I'd hold off until they do full protein checks on her urine, liver enzymes, and all that happy stuff. I'm not a fan of induced labor in most cases.

Joseph will be fine either way. Pre-eclampsia is more a hazard to the mother than the baby. And I've had friends (and a sister in law) who stayed pregnant for WEEKS with p-e (having developed it early in the pregnancy). All had healthy babies, recovered nicely, and are fine today. One of them developed a really nasty magnesium deficiency after delivering, though, so you might want to keep tabs on that.
