Quick review on The Body Shop's Moisture Foundation and DWL vs. MM round 1 update

Apr 10, 2014 23:59

As some of you already know, I decided to pit Estee Lauder's Double Wear Light in intensity 0.5 against MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 in NC20, and both were giving me pinpricks of irritation.

At around 4:30pm, I had to remove the foundations. I had a dinner to go to and after that I had a mini makeover at The Body Shop, where I intended to try another foundation. Estee Lauder's Double Wear Light and MAC's Mineral Moisturize just weren't doing anything for me today. I may try them again tomorrow. We'll see.

I'll just put it right out there that whatever was happening at The Body Shop wasn't working either. The very lovely saleslady there tried the Moisture Foundation in 03 on me, which seemed like a pretty good match, but then so did 05. I swatched 03 on my arm next to DWL 0.5 and they appeared similar in colour, though it was difficult to tell under the store's lights. MF 05 seemed a bit darker than MM NC20. MF 02 is a little lighter than 03. But after I went home and checked my arm to compare the colours under my home's lighting (which leans warm and is obviously different from the store's lighting), The Body Shop swatches had mostly faded away. Most of the other foundations I swatched today have stayed on.

So I had a thin layer of MF 03 on my face with the loose powder foundation lightly patted on top. I felt like the foundation looked kind of streaky; I don't know if this is the fault of the liquid foundation or the brush the salesperson was using. In about ten minutes, I was starting to feel pinpricks all over my face. I don't know if it was the liquid or the powder foundation or even a combination of the two that caused it but they had to go.

On a side note, I went on a swatching spree so here's a couple liquid foundations that seem to match MM NC20 in colour: Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer in Fair 1 and Estee Lauder's Double Wear in 1W1 Bone.
