Update on the Geekery

I completely forgot to mention this. Part of the fun I had at Conventiculum was in the modern things you got to say in Latin. This made for many interesting conversations, especially ones on Southpark.

You're actually probably not too surprised to hear that.

The fun part was, Robertus comes meus can do perfect Cartman and Mr. Garrison impersonations, and we got to translate some key phrases into Latin. It was mostly him; I helped out a little bit. They are as follows, should you wish to try them out:

Cartman:

-"Ite in malas cruces, pueri. Redeo domum."
-Alternate version of above, mixing in some Greek: "Kai su, tekna. Redeo domum."*
-"Sed maaaaaaaaaaater!"
-"Dulce."
-"Nil refert! Nil refert! Faciam quod volo!"

*We liked this version better because it's more pithy, even if there is maybe a wrinkle in the grammar. We were happy to learn that "Kai su" is a sort of verbal version of giving someone a rude gesture, which makes Caesar's final words interesting.

Mr. Garrison:

-"Tacete, pueri."
-"Nonne re vera, Domine Caput?"
-"Nonne re vera, Domine Serve?"

I liked that last one because of the glaring oxy-moron. Half the fun was in hearing it, though. Seriously. Hilarious.

I would like to add a couple to the Cartman list, but I'll have to run them by Robertus. I wonder what he'd think of:

-"Volo mea caseicrustula!"
-"Meam auctoritatem aspice!"

And yeah. Someone get me a new book to read, or I'll be torturing you guys with more of this stuff :P
