Las Vegas, Day One
We finally got off to Vegas around 11AM Monday morning. It was a nice drive, and all the traffic was going the other way at the end of the Memorial Day weekend. We drove straight to Baker, CA, which is about an hour out of Vegas , for lunch. My friends and I have always eaten at a place called "Bun Boy' there, but now Bob's Big Boy bought Bun Boy (confusing I know) and everything is fried and icky. I won't be stopping there again.
Also in Baker is Alien Fresh Jerky, a small shop that sells all kinds of jerked meats, nuts, olives, hot sauces, etc. We usually stop on the way back, but I took a picture of the place to show y'all:
We drove into Vegas around 4:30, got to the room, and unpacked. Then went to relax and have a drink, so we relaxed a bit at one of the bars at the Excalibur before going off in search of dinner.
We decided to go to Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Besides the ride and the shops, they have a restaurant called "Quark's Bar' (from Deep Space Nine) and we went there to get a 'Warp Core Breach," a giant drink with ten types of booze in it. Here is a nice pic of it before we drank it down:
After that we went back to the Strip but were really tired, so we headed back. Here are a couple pics of the New York, New York hotel, right next to the Excalibur, one at day and one at night:
I'll be taking my nice 35mm digital with me and taking lots of pics, so I'll upload some of the better ones in my next post, and dump the rest on a photohosting site.
My next report will be prob tomorrow morning :)
