Firo was strolling about outside, wondering when all the kids would go away when he saw yet another one huddled in front of an apartment building. Unlike most of the others, she wasn't bouncing off the walls or scurrying about tripping people.

He approached the little girl cautiously and knelt down in front of her.

"Are you okay, kid?"

Momo jumped when this stranger approached her. She didn't back away, looking him up and down instead; if he meant her harm, he would have done so already.

He certainly wasn't a shinigami, lacking the uniform that would have made that immediately obvious, but his clothes were strange. They weren't like anything she'd ever seen before; Rukongai dwellers wore yukatas or kimonos like her own, not these strange things.

"I-I'm ok," she spoke up hesitantly, raising her gaze to his. "Just a little, well, lost."

Firo hung back as the little girl flinched a bit. She seemed a little nervous, and more than a little familiar.

Oh my god....

"M-Momo! You're small too!"

So he knew her name! Well that was odd. Momo was certain she didn't know this boy, so how did her know her?

Maybe he was a friend of her grandmother? That would explain how he knew her, though she wondered how her grandmother would know someone like this.

What he said next took over that thought, though. "Too? Of course I'm small! I'm only 8!" she said, confused.

Momo looked over this new child curiously when he ran up to her. Other children in Rukongai were sometimes dangerous, but never when they ran up saying hello. Ran up with a knife, yes. This boy didn't seem dangerous though; he carried a notebook, not any obvious weaponry.

"Hi!" she said back, smiling. "I'm Momo." The 'who're you?' was implicit, or at least to Momo it was.

She still didn't know where she was or how she got here, but she supposed she wasn't going to get anywhere sitting and sulking on a step.

"Nice to meet you, too." she answered with a smile; her grandmother had always taught her to be polite.

Momo nodded sadly at his question. "Kinda. I'm pretty used to getting lost, though, 'cause I wander off far too much. I've never been lost like this before!"

Akihiro had been exploring the weird island that he had found himself on. He liked the fact that the other kids were nice here. Even if his father wasn't here, he wanted to stay, for at least a little while longer.

Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a little girl curled up into a ball. He cautiously approached.

"You okay...?"

This child, at least, looked vaguely familiar when Momo looked up from her protective huddle. His features were much more like her own, even if he still looked a little strange; she wasn't used to seeing any western features at all. Momo found his hairstyle pretty cute on him, rather than the strange she was sure many others would call it.

"Mm, I'm okay." she assured him, not uncurling further, though. "I'm just trying to figure out how I got here."

Oh, the girl was Japanese. He hadn't seen any other Japanese kids around on the island... and in a sense he was grateful for it. Most kids like him didn't like him because of his other half. But this girl didn't seem to mind--she didn't try to hit him or tell him to go away or throw something at him. He came closer.

"No one's really sure. Something about bad timelines or something. One of the adults tried explaining it."

It would make more sense if he believed in Science Fiction.

Momo was much more likely to assault him with curious questions than anything else; she had always been a curious child. She sensed his reluctance, though, and peered curiously at him for it. Momo was sure she didn't look threatening at all, so what reason would another child have to be wary of her?

"Bad... timelines?" she repeated, very confused. She'd never heard anything like that before.

Kiryu was wandering, carefully watching this place - he didn't trust it just yet, it seemed too good to be true and Kiryu's experience there was always some sort of catch. He didn't really plan to talk with anybody. But seeing Momo sitting around in the open, makes him stop and for a moment he wanted to run over and scold her - didn't she notice that she was making herself vulnerable - but then he remembered that this wasn't the Satellite.

Still… letting her sit there alone and sad would be just mean and Kiryu wasn't like that. At least not unless he needed to be. Stuffing his hands into his jeans pockets, he approached, already calling when he was still a few steps away from where she set.

"Hey… Whatcha mopping 'bout?"

Momo looked curiously at this boy. He also appeared to be Japanese, but he was wearing such funny clothes! She didn't even know how to describe them; they looked like nothing she'd ever seen. They looked pretty uncomfortable, too.

She was so caught up in staring at his clothes that she very nearly missed his question. Momo jumped guilty, blinking at him for a moment.

"Ah- I'm just trying to figure out what to do." Momo explained, giving him a soft smile. "I'm kinda lost, you see, and I need to get back home before I worry Obaa-san and Shirou-chan."

Izuru found he had far too little to do in this world where he wasn't buried in missions, reports and paperwork. He had noticed lately there appeared to be a few more children than he remembered and a fair bit of commotion as well.

He walks by one of the housing complexes and noticed a small girl sitting on the steps, looking rather distressed. She seemed to be on the verge of tears.

"Excuse me," he called, approaching her. "Are you alright?"

Momo jumped at the voice, her instincts immediately telling her it was an adult. Adults she didn't know were not to be trusted; some of the tales she'd heard from higher districts...

When she looked up to see who it was - she figured she'd be okay so long as it wasn't the owner of this strange house - however, she grinned brightly, jumping up. It was a shinigami! They almost always stopped to help out, and Momo was so, so relieved to see someone obviously from the same place she was.

"Shinigami-san!" Momo exclaimed, running up to him. "I'm so glad to see you! I'm really, really lost." she explained quickly, stopping a few steps from him so as not to crowd him; Momo didn't want to anger him.

Izuru blinked in surprise at the small girl when she jumped onto him.

"Ah... shinigami..." he trailed off. At first he wasn't sure if he had heard her right, but it is her voice that shocks him the most. He looks at the young girl with wide eyes as she continues to speak, more questions forming into his head.

He pauses for a long moment, not sure what to say. He bends down so he is eye level with the girl.

"Hinamori-kun?" He asked cautiously.

The man almost seemed surprised to be called a shinigami. Momo peered at him curiously for several long moments. No, he certainly looked the part, and no-one would dare impersonate a shinigami. Maybe he was just used to being called by his name.

She had to resist darting back when the man knelt down, though; shinigami or not, he was still a strange adult. Momo kept her ground, meeting his gaze with a soft, hopeful smile.

Which changed to immediate confusion as he called her by name. How did everyone seem to know it?!

"That's my name." Momo said uncertainly. "How do you know it, shinigami-san?"
