Saturday, I was kidnapped

When the phone rang Saturday morning, I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't Mb calling to say she was planning to kidnap me. Okay, maybe it wasn't completely unexpected, it's happened before, but never before on quite such a grand scale---she took me to Downtown Disney! (Which is not the same as Walt Disney World/the Magic Kingdom, although it IS on Disney property. It's mostly restaurants and boutiques, although the House of Blues is there, and Cirque du Soliel and Planet Hollywood and the like.)

I had my camera with me, although it was misbehaving: It kept shutting itself off. Mb says I need new batteries. While I'm not happy at having to pony up for new lithium---those suckers are expensive---better that than my camera going sour, cuz I love my digital camera!

We got there noonish, so we had lunch at DisneyQuest first thing. I had a chicken ceesar wrap, Mb had a cheeseburger and we admired the ceiling mural

Mb decided we should go for a stroll to digest, so away we went! We exited through the gift store, naturally, where I tried on, but didn't buy, a charming item of headgear:

There was much eye-candy to be seen. Loved the window display at Trends, a boutique, with Ursula as the focal point (As we were driving over, I'd told Mb that Ursula is my favorite Disney character.); although there's some wicked reflection on the glass, you can see what I saw:

We kept going, although that place is pretty big! Mb, with the sun in her eyes, paused to wait for Fluffy, the compulsive shutter-bug

Finally, Fluffy reached the Promised Land!

Mb and I shared a caramel sea-salt latte, which is MUCH better than it sounds! Mmmm! Yummy! and then we took a ferry back to the other end of the park, which was definitely the way to go!

The dock is behind the House of Blues, which is awesome in its detail. All of Downtown Disney is, really---it's Disney, after all, and they are the masters of eye-candy---but the weathered, primitive look of the House of Blues really appeals to me, like this doorway:

From there, we popped back in to Disney Quest for refills on our drinks. We did the Pirate of the Caribbean...thing. Not exactly a ride...game?...attraction? Anyway, you wear VR glasses and shoot cannons at ghost ships and sea serpents and the like---it was hella cool, whatever you want to call it.

For the entrance price, there are assorted games and attractions there, including a fabulous retro arcade. Mb and I played a Jeopardy-style trivia game for a little while. I tried several pinball games (did best at Batman, got like, seven bonus balls and rang up a +2million score), discovered I suck just as badly at PacMan now as I did in 1980, but the bestest part was squee ball---I mean, skee ball---

I won't be wearing that shirt again, it makes me look huge. Not that I'm petite, but really, I'm not THAT big. It doesn't define my waist at all and drapes badly, especially as I'm leaning forward to pitch.

Somehow, it had gotten to be nearly 9:00, and I was beat. Mb was running out of steam, too, so we headed for the parking lot. One last thing caught my eye on the way out, and I swear, if/when I win the lottery and commission the tricked-out pink glitterflake Camaro of my dreams, it's gonna have these rims

I had a great time, and Mb blessed me with funds to get a bag of Ghirardelli squares (Her caveat was, I HAD to spend it there at Disney). I'm set with good chocolate, at least for a little while. Then I got back to the house and walked into my serene living room and I felt like I'd come home.

It's possible to own a place and not have it feel like home, but right now, I do and it does.
