It's a little bit funny

This year's gifts have been rather thematic, although most of the givers don't know each other and certainly didn't coordinate a strategy.

It's been a very good year for domestic stuff, such as the slippers and mock-mink throw from Mb and Company. In addition, I can take the C's Publix GC, get a steak and ccok it in the non-stick saute pan from pwcorgigirl, ( Read more... )

It came up in a recent email exchange what is the cost of USBs in America and here. A 8 GB USB costs about 25 dollars in Estonia. My email acquintance almost fell off her chair at that. When I recalled how you extended your buck for one not that long ago, I realised why...

The ones I got were 4GB each, and I got the 2 for about $14 (plus tax, still, under $15). That was a sale price, though; they were listed at $12 each to begin with.

Hmm, then maybe the gal was getting the cost from buying in bulk, or something. Because your statements are not that different from ours... Go figure.

Yeah, waiting for sales or a good discount makes a big difference.

... and little more searching revealed that 4port hub costs about 19-28 dollars... *goes in the corner to cackle like the mad woman she feels she is*

I don't know how much J paid for the hub. She got it online somewhere and gave me a picture of it, since it is still enroute. But it's a good brand, HP, same as my printer and the laptop. I would've been happy with a knockoff, but J swears by HP. I'm not saying she's wrong, I'm just cheap because I'm so chronically poor.

I am not going to check, either. I may occasionally not be so poor but the conversion to Euros really makes me feel bad for myself - my pay rate will drop visually to peanuts, truly.

As someone who often has peanut butter sandwiches as a cheap dinner, I know the feeling!

Dekoshered hot dogs sound like The Best Thing Ever. *drools*

Hooray for looking good and being happy and having a wonderful Christmas. (((HUGS)))

We had a very nice Christmas -- the snow hit in such a way that we got home before it became unsafe to drive -- and now I'm glad to spend a quiet day at home before jumping back into the fray at work.

Definitely in the Top Five. They will also make you VERY popular with any four-legged dog who happens to be in the vicinity---all three at the C's were rapt with attention while they were being consumed.

I'm really glad that I didn't have a repeat of last year, when I spent all day Xmsa Eve having weeping jags and bowing out of dinner at CapeGypsy's.

I'm glad your trip was safe and uneventful. And, on the bright side, ADVENT IS OVER.

Thank God Almighty, Advent is OVER! Next week will be spent finishing up the finances for the year. The Padre always waits until the last day of the year to drop a pile of reimbursement requests on my desk, which last year had me saying loudly, and incredulously, "You spent $52 on PENS. What's wrong with using the ones I already bought?" He also buys very expensive pens and then throws them away when they run dry, instead of buying new cartridges. It makes me want to holler!

Do you also have to send statements to parishners for tax purposes? Our treasurer was muttering about that this morning.

There were also bacon-wrapped scallops, but I'm not a fan of scallops, so...dogs it was. Although for the first time in my life, I think I can say I'm over bacon (at least for the time being). It wasn't just that, there was an assortment of sweet and savory finger foods and nibbles, but the dogs are a long-standing favorite of mine.
