Summary: Life is really unfair for gay idols.
"You're beautiful, darling”, the main singer of SHINee said while he stroked gently down Taemin's cheek, resting it under his chin and lifting it up so they're eyes met. When the Jonghyun leaned closer. Taemin choked nervously on the cookie he was eating. He was so close to the three years older boy that he could feel Jonghyuns breath hitting his face, and for a second Taemin thought that Jonghyun would kiss him. Then just before they're lips met Jonghyun pulled away with a friendly laugh and turned to Onew, who was engaged in a conversation with the rest of the members.. Taemin tried his best to hide his embarrassment by stuffing another cookie in his mouth. He was glad that no one seemed to have noticed Jonghyun's closeness.
What he didn't know, was that Key had watched with a frown on his face.
Taemin threw himself on his bed in exhaustion. He grabbed a pillow to hide his face in, when thoughts of the day came back to him. Jonghyun had been wierd and had more then one time, much to Taemin's embarrassment, acted out a husband and wife scenario with him. Taemin didn't understand it at all Wasn't that something he always did with their other member Key? Taemin couldn't, for the love of god, understand what made Jonghyun do this with him all of a sudden. Had Key and him been fighting? Maybe Key had finally got tired of Jonghyuns silliness? Key and Jonghyun had always been close friends and they both liked to joke around a lot. If Taemin thought about it, they could even be the members who did the most fanservice. Being the competetive person Minho, their rapper, was he always tried to convince Taemin to compete with them. Taemin didn't. Because fanservice never made Taemin comfortable. He never understood the point of hugging someone just to make fans pleased. He'd much rather hug when wanting to.
He couldn't deny though, that all this husband and wife roleplaying made him feel a bit chosen and special. It feelt good to have someone that close to him and loving, even if Jonghyun was joking. Sometimes it felt like they were real husband and wife.
His thought were interrupted when someone slowly slid in through the open door. He could see Jonghyun smiling at him.
”Honey, let's go to sleep.”, he said an a whisper and smiled in a way that looked almost devilish to Taemin. He closed the door to walk over to the bed. As shocked as Taemin was, he didn't have time to protest before Jonghyun climbed into the bed.
”I guess it's okay”, Taemin said defeatedly to the older boy who was now making himself comfortable under the cover. He smiled, seemingly satisfied by Taemin's answer and reached out to tuck Taemin under the cover with him. He cuddled up to the younger boy who now was trying to hide his flushed cheeks. Ofcourse, it wasn't Taemin's first time to sleep and cuddle with Jonghyun, or any of their members by that matter, but with the way Jonghyun had been acting all day, today's cuddling somehow felt different. Still, Taemin felt himself relax in the warm embrace. He almost drifted to sleep before a door opened and a loud voice was heard. The muscled arms sorrounding him was suddenly gone.
Taemin sat up, rubbing his tired eyes, trying to see what was happening. It wasn't easy, because whoever had walked in had also turned on the lights, and it took a while for him to get used to the blinding light that suddenly filled the room.
When he did he could se Key standing infront of the yet again closed door.
Key slowly walked over to Taemin's bed, sitting down with a gentle smile.
”I think it's time we talked.”, he said, fiddling a bit with the hem of his T-shirt.
He didn't know how to begin. He was afraid of hurting the younger, much more vulnerable boy.
After a moments pause, he decided to do like he always did. Be straight with him.
”It's about Jonghyun. Do you love him?”, he asked.
Taemin nodded a bit confused. Ofcourse he loved Jonghyun. He loved all of SHINee.
”I mean, more then friends?”, Key said, studying Taemin's face for a reaction. Taemin instantly widened his eyes and lowered his head, not wanting to meet the others gaze.
”But....but he's a guy!”
Key frowned as that reaction already gave him the answer he needed.
”Listen, Jonghyun is a nice guy, a wonderful friend! But I'm begging you to not get more involved with him then that.”
Taemin looked up at him with a questioning expression.
”You may not think this way, but we have been without girlfriends for so long, because the media makes it hard for us to get any. I think he will start something with you only to feel close to someone. It will be nothing more then friends-with-benefits, and you will be the one hurting in the end.”
