Chapter 14 It had been one of those hard practice days, Kame thought as he watched Jin slump down exhaustedly on a chair a few feet away from where he was sitting, after waiting for him an extra hour than usual. Outside, the moon was starting to make its appearance.
The older boy looked at him sideways, between the messy curtains of hair framing his beautiful brown eyes “Come here, Kazu. I need to tell you something.”
Jin sure sounded tired enough not to want to move, but Kame still wasn’t sure why he couldn’t tell him from where he was, when they were alone and not that far from each other, yet, he approached Jin.
“What do you want?” he asked when he as standing in front of the other.
With a gentle pull on Kame’s wrist, the boy came stumbling forward, ending up straddling Jin’s lap with the latter’s head pressed against his chest.
“This,” Jin whispered “This is what I want,” he finished, inhaling Kame’s scent and snuggling closer to the latter’s warmth, wrapping his arms around the thin waist so Kame wouldn’t fall back.
The smaller boy smiled fondly, pushing the dark hair back gently before cupping Jin’s face, forcing the boy to face him “You look tired,” he whispered, not wanting to break the silent atmosphere by speaking louder; absent-mindedly tracing the eye-bags under Jin’s eyes with his index finger “Come on. Let’s go home.”
“I’m comfortable here. Give me a good reason to move,” Jin mumbled.
“I’ll make your favorite dish today…?” Jin made a thoughtful face, not really convinced and Kame hurried to think of something else “…and I’ll cuddle with you…”
The last words seemed to have a positive effect on Jin and the boy immediately stood up “Let’s go, then.”
Every day, Kame found out something new about Jin. Now he was sure the latter really enjoyed cuddling. Whether it was with him or simply cuddling, he wasn’t yet sure.
Jin didn’t seem all too excited about the fact of having to eat and he had barely taken a few bites of his favorite dish that Kame had promised to make, when he dragged the younger boy to the bed, peeling off their clothes before slipping under the covers and basking on each other’s warmth.
Kame didn’t even think about protesting, even though he had lots of work left to finish, but he thought he could as well take a break to rest a little, especially when it was with Jin beside him, and once the boy was asleep, he set his cell phone’s alarm for later to make sure he’d have some time to work until the morning.
He had become used to working in the middle of the night since he had met Jin, which in turn, would drag him to sleep earlier.
When the unforgiving alarm finally rang, he struggled to get off of Jin’s embrace without awaking the other and silently put a naked foot on the ground, collecting his clothes and heading for the living room so he could have some work done, when he realized he had forgotten the pictures at home.
He cursed silently and snatched his car keys from the pocket of his coat and rushed out, careful not to bang the door and wake Jin up.
Like he had thought, the streets were abandoned at 4am, the roads pretty empty too, he noted.
He was almost surprised to find lights behind him from some other car that stopped to the red light as well. He looked through the rearview mirror and though it was dark, he was sure he knew that face.
But before he had the chance to have a better look, the car reversed and raced forward again until it slammed on the back of his car, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel. He was still recovering from the scare when another car slammed into his from the left, making it overturn and he was stuck inside, alone, listening to the two cars racing away.
Kame groaned in pain as he tried reaching for the seatbelt buckle to release himself. His arm hurt, the blood ran down his face, obscuring his vision to red. The seatbelt refused to let him go and it took him a few weak punches on it until he went stumbling to the curb, finally managing to get out through the broken window on the other side.
He collapsed on the floor, trying to will the pain away, but it was too strong to just get his mind out of it, and he finally found the strength to sit up and take his cell out of his back pocket, dialing the number he knew too well by then with his bloodied hands.
“Kame? What the hell happened to you? I’ve been waiting for you for a while. You left everything here,” Jin said on the other line and there was a silent pause.
“Jin…” it was the broken voice Kame used that alarmed the other “come pick me up. I can’t move…”
“What? W-where are you?” Jin asked in mild panic, slipping on his clothes as he listened to the other.
“There are some traffic lights,” Kame said, his brain not really cooperating with him even though he knew he wasn’t too far from Jin’s house “and a blue fence nearby…” he described.
“Ok, wait for me. I’ll be there in a second,” Jin jumped onto his shoes and hurried out the apartment, not even bothering to lock the door, and dashed out of there, the cell phone squeezed between his ear and his shoulder.
“Are you still there, Kame?” there was a faint ‘yes’ on the other line and he forced the car to go faster, “I’ll be with you. Don’t fall unconscious on me, ok?” he said, more of a demand then a question. He didn’t know what had really happened but from Kame’s tone, he didn’t like it one bit.
He finally caught sight of the bad-treated car with the slim figure on the floor in a messy heap, “Fuck, I see you.”
Jin slammed the brakes, dropping the phone without a second thought and ran to the other, almost gasping when he noticed the light body covered in bruises and scratches, blood staining the pale countenance, “God…Kame, who did this to you?”
He quickly gathered the fragile figure in his arms, lifting him up and carrying him to his car.
Jin didn’t bother asking much about what had happened anymore, first worrying about treating Kame’s injuries as he drove to the hospital.
“They hate me, Jin,” Kame finally broke the silence, his voice to weak it made Jin want to kill whoever had made this.
“What are you talking about? Who does?”
“The ones that love you…” Kame had caught a glimpse of the driver of the car. It was Ishida and the other driver was probably another one who had been taken by Jin. They hated him.
Jin’s eyes widened, but he didn’t want to engage in that kind of conversation so he just drove Kame to be checked.

Jin helped Kame, supporting him as the latter limped his way out of the hospital and onto the car.
It seemed no ribs had been broken or anything, just a concussion, a few deep cuts and a lot of bruises and scratches.
“Where do you want to stay?” Jin asked. It was morning already and he had made sure to warn Pi Kame wasn’t going to show up, and so wouldn’t he - his manager hadn’t been too satisfied to hear the news.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to stay at my own place,” Jin nodded in understanding but Kame caught the flash of insecurity on the other’s face,
“You can stay too if you like,” he offered.
“You don’t mind?”
“Why should I? I’ll welcome anyone that helps me at least climbing the stairs” he chuckled, but not the smallest smile formed on Jin’s face.
When Kame finally settled on his bed, stretching his sore limbs, Jin excused himself to get something to eat, but Kame made him halt “Jin, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”
“There’s obviously something because you won’t even look at me. I’m sorry I got you into trouble, ok? I didn’t mean to…”
“You don’t understand!” Jin punched the wall and Kame flinched visibly.
“It’s not who’s to blame. It’s me. It’s always me and you keep getting into trouble because of me. Just…don’t want you to hate me,” Jin admitted and Kame’s eyes softened.
“I don’t hate you, idiot. It’s not your fault.”
“But-”
“Not! Now help me sit up and get me some food because I’m starving.”
Kame congratulated himself for having achieved taking Jin’s mind of the matter when the latter said “So demanding…”
However, Jin obliged to the other’s order and helped Kame to sit up on the bed “I’ll prepare you something. Be right back,” he kissed Kame’s forehead before striding away, though, he hadn’t even made it two steps away from the room when he heard Kame groan loudly and rushed back “Are you ok?”
The younger boy nodded and Jin placed a hand over his chest, exhaling shakily in relief, and hesitantly, made his way out of the room again, sending glances over his shoulder at the younger boy to confirm everything was ok.
Ten minutes and a broken plate later, Kame got his food. The food made by Jin wasn’t the tastiest but it meant a lot to the younger boy.
“Jin…” Kame started once he had put down his chopsticks, having his stomach full.
“You’re done eating already? You should eat more.”
“Yes, I’m done. But listen, Jin…” he tried again, once more being interrupted.
“Was it that bad? Maybe I’m really not cut out to cook,” Jin scratched the back of his head.
“No, it was great, but that’s not the point. Jin…” Kame started once more, but apparently, it wasn’t meant to happen and Jin cut him a third time, not really paying attention to what Kame had said.
“I can make you something else, you know? I’ll just…” he was on the verge of standing up when Kame grabbed his arm, holding him still.
“Jin, listen!” the older boy finally settled down and silently waited for the other to continue “Will you leave?” he didn’t wait for an answer “Jin, I know I won’t be much of a sex partner today but can I still ask you to stay?” Kame asked, his eyes shining with hope and yet something akin to fear.
Jin just smiled reassuringly, sitting beside Kame and shifting their positions on the bed until Kame was sitting back in between his legs, leaning back against him.
“Thank you…” Kame whispered almost inaudibly.
“Hm?”
“For staying,” he clarified.
“You know I can’t leave you alone when you’re like this,” Kame silently agreed and hummed contently as Jin played with the ends of his hair, curling them around his fingers, and placed sweet and warm kisses on his neck with those luscious lips Kame always loved kissing and had a crave for right that second so he tilted his head to the side in a mimicked request and Jin’s lips pressed against his lightly, as if the boy was afraid he’d hurt him.
Kame sighed contentedly as the kiss came to a natural end and settled back in the circle of Jin’s arms wrapped around his middle. He felt his eyelids weighting as he was evolved in a warm wave of tenderness, and started to drift off.
A few silent minutes filled the room until Jin decided to speak “I’m sorry for today…I’m sorry about only bringing you trouble,” he said but the other was already asleep and he knew it, from the way Kame’s breath evened out and the boy becoming too silent.
Jin placed one last kiss on the side of Kame’s neck, pulling the covers over them both and basked in the pleasurable feeling of Kame sleeping in his arms, as he too was soon claimed by sleep.
