I hung out my ppl (no, they were not asians!)
So yeah...today I decided to go help out in Unidos por Colombia. I took my bag of candy and went there. It was interesting. I handed out flyers and tried to get people to sponcer the kids for christmas. My spanish sucks! Its soooo f*ing bad, I cannot speak! I should bury myself in a hole! I cannot believe my spanish could get this bad, but it did! So to fix it, I'm taking Portugese classes next semester. Yeah, I know it sounds wierd because now I'll be confusing spanish with three other languages but whatever, I'm forgetting most of what I learned in Italian anyway....And I only confused spanish with Italian when it came to writing. Yeah, I used a word in spanish today that I hadn't used in years. It was soo wierd, when was the last time I said "bounced back" (in spanish its one word!). As I was saying it I was thinking "Oh, shit! I am going to look like an idiot!" but apparently I said it right! GO ME! Yep, yep, yep.
So after counting all the money, which took forever and a day! I went to su's to get my car and went to play soccer with them. I got there and I couldn't find them so decided to just stay and work out, but then Angie (president of COLSA) came and got me. We had to wait for like an hr to be able to play bc these guys took our turn. Funny how I feel all the prejiduce when I'm in a group of Colombians. I dunno, if I'm with my usual friends which consists of a large asian group, I don't really feel like people are walking around being prejudice. But when I'm with Colombians it does feel that way. Well, it did today because they took our turn and kept complaining about everything we did. It was just wierd being with Colombians and not hating them or complaining about them.....that's a first! Ha!
An awesome part of today....theres this thing that's like a stand up moped thing, it runs on battery. You stand on it and it takes you places, I've seen it on tv before. ITS SOOOO AWESOME! These people had it next to our table when I was helping hand out and candy and stuff. We had to fill out a survey and then we could ride it. IT WAS SO COOL! I WANT ONE! You just lean forward and it moves and lean back and it stops! Turn a nob and it does a complete circle. It was soo freaking cool! It goes pretty fast too. I wanted to go fast but its kinda hard to get used to breaking bc at first it feels like you are going fall. I almost crashed (nothing big, I just almost hit a bench), but that was the coolest thing! AHHHH! but they're like almost 5 grand...that's like the value of my car. So no hope in getting one of those in the near future. BUT IT WAS SO AWESOME! heh, I'm starthing to sound like paris hilton with all the awesomes. But hey, at least I don't put pots in microwaves! I want to ride it again! It was so much fun! It goes pretty fast.....need for speed! You feel like you are in some futuristic movie bc its feels like you are flying!
Well, guess what? I am a historian again! lol. That was like the easiest position to get. I filled out my Unidos por Colombia thing with my information and when it asked what I liked to do, I said "taking pictures". Then Angie for some reason remembered my last name and that I wrote that, so when I was enjoying my ride on the thingi-magig, she was like "Vanessa, you are Pineda, right?" me "yeah" Angie "you said you like to take pics?" me "yeah." Angie "You wanna be the historian?" me "ummm, sure" HAHAHAHA, how funny is that?!
Seeing as for Science NHS I was all stressed about getting the position.
