Dear current mail person
I noticed the other day that our neighbour had some mail folded up and stuck in the handle of his front door. Since all of the doors in our complex have mail slots, I thought this was unusual. At first I thought that someone had come by and had just stuck whatever information they were handing out there, as canvassers sometimes do, but as he was the only one who had something stuck on his door, then obviously that wasn't the case.
Today, as I was going to take out the recycling, I noticed that there was an envelope bunched up and stuck in our door handle. As the mail had just come through the slot in the door, I thought this was unusual. The envelope in question was slightly larger than the slot. Okay, sometimes that happens. But what I would like to know is why you felt it was okay to bunch it up to stick in the door handle, but not okay to bunch up to fit it through the slot with the rest of the mail? Not that bending and folding the mail like that is okay. Even if it doesn't have "do not bend" stamped on it, it might still be something that shouldn't be bent.
I noticed that you aren't our regular mail person. He will actually ring the doorbell if something won't fit through the slot, or if no one is home will put it between the screen door and the inner door. He won't mutilate the mail, as you seem to have no qualms doing.
I really hope that he's just on vacation or sick or something, and that he hasn't been replace by you permanently.
No love
Me
YMMV, but I found this really annoying. I'd hate to have a piece of important mail treated like that. Just stick the damn thing between the doors, at least then it won't get rained on or possibly taken by someone.
