The light bulb in the kitchen blew the other day. Absinthe changed it, no problem, using a regular old incandescent light bulb. The old light bulb was a CF bulb, which couldn't be thrown out because it contains mercury. Luckily, there was an "Enviro Day" thing going on near us, so we took it and some batteries we needed to dispose of.
What I would like to know, is who the brain trust who thought that light bulbs that cost 2 to 3 times more than regular bulbs and have to be disposed of as hazardous household waste because they contain mercury would be a good idea? How exactly is something that contains hazardous materials supposed to be a good thing? I'm just asking.
