WOOOOOOOOOO!

So I went to interview at CAT last Friday, and I just found out I'll have a programming job at CAT once school's over! Praise God for that! I found this out about four hours ago, and this is VERY good news. It'll be in Morton, I think, and I'm really glad to be able to live in or around Peoria! It's also nice to not have to do interviews anymore; I was afraid I'd have to drive to all sorts of faraway places. It's also great because I've missed or declined several other interviews; I applied at Chick-fil-A but they didn't really have a job that suited me, and I applied at Deere, but their interview was scheduled on a weekend when I would have had to drive through a bizarre lightning-and-snow-at-the-same-time storm (so I didn't go). I've been realizing that I don't really want to move away from Peoria, so this has been great all around. So yay! XD

School has been a lot more busy than I thought it would be, but I think it mostly has to do with studying for comprehensive computer science oral exams (which have not yet occurred) and driving to Peoria. I only have one hard class, taught by that prof that taught me a lesson in pain this past month, and his advice about balancing work and life lies shattered and forgotten on the cold, cold ground. HE LIES, I SAY!!! He may singlehandedly be turning my 12-hour semester into a difficult semester. But other than that, things are fine. I even enjoy this man's class to an absurd and reluctant degree, despite its being time-consuming. The only real regrettable thing about it is that now is a TERRIBLE place to slow down in making the Warnerburg comic.

HOW ABOUT I TALK ABOUT MY CLASSES

Intro to Computer Systems - That hard class, in which we learn about bits, assembly language, low-level memory allocation, and all that close-to-machine-level goodness. We have five labs, each of which are looking to take about 20-30 hours. BOO FOR THAT! But I enjoy screwing around with bits to a certain extent, so WHY NOT
Systems Seminar - We listen to people lecture about various Systems-related things.
Database Concepts - THE DATA GOES INTO THE DATABASE
Tolkien/Lewis Seminar - frick yeah! This class is amazing! So far we've read some essays of Tolkien's and The Hobbit. We also listened to a recording of Tolkien reading the riddle scene from The Hobbit, and it's hilarious, because he does a Gollum voice, and it sounds an awful lot like the way they voiced Gollum in the LOTR movies! They must have used this recording as a reference.
Detective Fiction - also rockin, and taught by the same prof from the last class (a prof who is also a cool person). We've read an Agatha Christie book and we're about to read some G.K. Chesterton. w00t!

So: 12 hours; there may be time a-plenty to make comics, but if these Intro to Computer Systems labs keep ripping me new ones, I may have to switch to a temporary 2-weeks-per-comic schedule. But that's not a big deal. WOO
