The Continuing Confessions of a telly addict ...

I think a telly post is in order, don't you?

1. Last night was the series finale of S5 House and, for once, Sky aren't going to make us wait a year for S6, but are continuing straight on with the new season next week. Hurrah \o/ I was pretty indifferent to Hugh Laurie in all his chinless wonder comedy roles, but think he's great in this part. The show is the same every week, which still seems to work as the characters are so good. Although I do worry about the hospital because the only surgeon they seem to have is Chase - who does everything from heart surgery to brain surgery. Don't they have specialist surgeons/departments? *g*

2. This years X Factor is turning out to be very entertaining as there seems to be a lot of genuine talent on offer. Unfortunately all my favourites are in the over 25 category (Simon Cowell's group \o/) and being only 3 can go through to the live shows, I can see some really good people being rejected. Even more scary is Louis Walsh's tendency to put through young boys he fancies, even if they've got no talent whatsoever (annoying Irish twins anybody!!). As we deduced in Horbling last year, Louis Walsh gives slash a bad name.

3. Series 1 of True Blood finishes this week on FX. I've really enjoyed it. True it's flagged a bit in the middle, but its still shiny enough to keep me watching. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for series 2?

I hear there's a few new vampire shows going out in the US. At least the crap Twilight spawned something good. But I'm very reluctant to dl shows and would rather wait to see them if they get shown on UK telly. This can be frustrating when it means you're a year behind in a lot of shows (Greys Anatomy, Burn Notice etc etc), but I just don't enjoy watching telly on a 'puter screen.

The only things I'm currently watching on the US timetable are Gossip Girl and Dexter; mainly because I've pretty much watched them on the US timetable since they started.

Finally; next week sees the start of Stargate Universe. If anyone watched it, could you let me know if it's a standalone series or is it connected to Atlantis? I watched all 9 seasons of SG1 but just couldn't get into Atlantis. If this is standalone I'll give it a chance - but not if I'm going to need to know all the Atlantis canon. Any info will be gratefully received.
