The last couple days have been hectic. Got a call at work yesterday from Marlin
mocumbear that the guys from the
fence company were there to put up the new fence. We're having a nice 6 foot privacy fence put in around the house. So I asked my boss if I could take the rest of the day off and it was OKed. (I still have about 2 weeks worth of vacation I need to use this year if possible.) He was cool about it. So I came home and we quickly covered the pool so no little neighbor kids could accidentally drown in it. I then got a call from
Viviano's, who are putting in a couple new doors for us. You've already seen the one door. The front door isn't the best, so we got an inexpensive storm door for it. They came by this morning, while the fence guys were hard at work for a second day. They still have to put in the gates and clean up, but it's mostly done. Considering it's been unbelievably hot I'm surprised they got as much done as they have.
While wasting time inside today, I was browsing
Google Maps. Even though it's been open for less than a year, I noticed the new Hwy 40/I-64 has been updated by
NAVTEQ. (It's the section from Spoede Road to I-170 to Kingshighway.) The part from 170 to Kingshighway only opened last December. Not only was the map part updated, but since St Louis is part of the CitySphere package from Digital Globe the imagery is updated every other year. So you can see what the new highway looks like
here.
Of course, I had to check and see our house. The last imagery was from either just before or after we bought our house. The new
imagery is definitely us. So you can see the pool clearly and Marlin's red car in the driveway. You can even see the blue-gray concrete of the new patio. The next time will look even better with the new fence. Who knows? By then we might even be on
Street View.
I'll get pics for the new door and fence this weekend.
