Following our trip to Ely at the beginning of last week, we made an offer for the first house we looked at, which was big, fairly central and close to the station. The asking price was also towards the top end of our budget. And it had rather more stairs than I would really have liked. The agents came back to us, indicating that they had received another offer, and invited us to make an improved offer, which we did. After waiting a couple of days, we finally got an answer late on Friday. The vendor decided to accept the other offer.
We are disappointed, but not heartbroken. There will be other houses. Meanwhile we are reverting to Plan A, which is to rent somewhere for six months, while we look for the right house.
