I did it, two out of four times is not so bad I suppose. Though this time it took almost the whole time, unlike the first time. The last 800 or so words were fairly difficult as well. It may have been that I had already reached the place I wanted to end the story and still needed to get those last few hundred words. There is more story to go, but that is for another year if I feel like finishing the story. If I had gone much further, then I would not have been happy with the ending, and yet I had to stretch it out another half a page or so.
