Biohazard musical, review by Valinya Performance of the 3rd of October, 13:30 (with after talk show)
I'm not really familiar with the games "Resident Evil"... I just saw the first movie a looong time ago and it didn't make a strong impression on me so I wasn't sure what to expect from this musical... First of all, I really wanted to see Sochan and Chie-san on stage together! And I must say I liked it a lot!!!! It's not focus on battles against zombies but more about the human actions who are in this kind of situation. So, we don't see that much the zombies but I must say Yoshie-san's dance parts (She was like the personification of all the zombies) were absolutely amazing. I liked the music and how they made the set ^_^
I don't have the time to describe all the scenes but here is what the story is about:
Plot:
A 30 million years old dead whale is discovered in Alaska. The whale's corpse is unfortunately infect by a strange virus and contaminate a lot of human who become zombies. As there is less and less healthy human, the ones who are still in live in the area will close the borders of their village. Sometimes, a group of them is send to search for some food and vital necessity outside the village to the closer cities. Lisa Martin (Chie-san) is living on this village but she lost her memory some times ago (on stage, we saw at the very beginning, she was fighting zombies before being hurt badly). One day, a group of 7 people were sent in mission to find food outside the village but only two of them came back: Lovro (Sochan) and Marco (Kyohei). Lisa is very glad they were able to come back safe since Lovro is her friend and Marco is like family for her. Unfortunately, they discover Marco was bitten by a zombie so they have no choice to kill him. Even if they are all very affected by Marco's death, Lovro tell them he heard something from people oustide about a girl who is leaving in a little island and who was able to fight against the virus. It seems something in her blood preserved her to become a zombie. The doctor Dan Gibson said maybe he can make an antidote with the girl's blood. Three of them (Lovro, Dan and Zerge) volonteer to go until the girl's place. Lisa wants to go too but the Dan refuses and says she must first recover her memory. The plan is to go first with bicycle and then take a plane. As zombies are everywhere, to make the team leave the village easily, the villagers, lead by the musician Roberto, will make music to attract the zombies to a special place and let a safe way on the other side of the village. Thanks to this, the team was able to leave the village but it works too well and the zombies, excited by all the noise, arrive to enter the village by force. The villagers were able to fight them back (Lisa noticed with surprise she was able to fight easily) but the son of the character Bernard Chabez is hurts and infected by the virus. The only hope to cure him, is to find an antidote within two days. Lisa and Bernard decide then to try to find the girl to cure the little boy so those three leave the village too. During the travel, a lot of things will happens to all of them and Lisa will start to recover her memory.
Spoil about scenes at the end of the musical: [Read the spoiler]
We had very emotionally strong scenes like when all hope seems lost for Bernard's son and, as it seems they have no choice but kill the little boy, Bernard put his own head between the gun and the head of his son to die with him. Luckily, Lisa came back just on time with some blood of the whale who contains antibody who can fight against the virus and save the boy. There is the scene too in which Lovro is contaminate by the virus and beg Lisa to kill him T^T It seems first impossible to Lisa to do it but Lovro arrived to convince her so she shoot at him T^T The scene was so well done by Chie-san and Sochan T^T I'm still in shock T^T Dan, who is loved by Lisa, is about to die too but she is able to save him on time (the antidote she has can save only people who are B group blood).
Impressions: Chie-san was absolutely perfect in every way. Even if she was the main role, she didn't had a lot of things to do at the beginning so I just wished she had more lines during the first act. Even if she told us the contrary, I had no worries at all about her playing the role of a girl. She was amazing and she made she audience feel all the emotions her character was passing through during the different scenes. In addition of the battle scene, we had a gorgeous dance scene with her and her partner playing the role of Dan during a dream-like scene. Of course, I was extremely happy to see Chie-san performing in real in front of me and I just LOVE her but I was there first for my beloved Soichi <3 Sochan was so amazing and perfect!!!! <3 <3 <3 His role was so touching <3 He is one of the main character fighting to find something against the virus. A strong but so sweet character. His character is in love with Chie-san's character and even if he knows Lisa is not loving him back (????!!!....this is beyond understanding...XD), he will do his best to help her and the other people in the village. Sochan played and sang very well <3 But he didn't have any dance scene >< Luckily, at the very end, for the curtain call, he showed us very impressive dance movements *u*
Look at those two angels:
After-talk with Chie-san: I had the chance to go the day there was a talk show with Chie-san after the musical (I did it on purpose of course XD). Here are the main things it was about: _Chie-san said she was at first anxious to play a girl but was finally able to trust herself and concentrate on making a "Lisa" in her own way. (for those who don't know, if I simplify, Chie-san was a top star of the "Star group" of the soooo famous girls troup Takarazuka. As it's only girls, some of them are trained to play boys roles and the other girls roles. Chie-san always played the main male role when she was Top-star of her group (for more informations, please check here: http://www.takawiki.com/). She said Lisa was a difficult role because what makes our personality are our experiences and our memory of it. Since Lisa lost her memory from the beginning of the play, she was wondering what kind of personality can have Lisa. She explains even if the musical is from Biohazard, the main point is not horror and zombie but really the actions and decisions of people when they find themselves in this kind of situation. It's really focus on people instead of zombies and it's what she liked about it. Spoil: her comment about a scene at the end of the musical:
[Read the spoiler] _She wanted to be sure too everyone understood why Lisa saved Dan and not Lovro. Chie-san was a little bit worried people think her character doesn't care about Lovro but that's not the case. It's because the blood of the whale could save only people who are B blood group and Lovro was A group so that's why she doesn't have the choice and couldn't save him.
_The mc asked her if she find herself one day in a desert and wild place, with which character of Biohazard she would like to be with. Chie-san hesitated first (she was soooo cute saying "eeee dou shiyoooouuu! yaaa doooouuuu shiyoooouuuu!" <3 ) but finally chose Dan. (Personally, I'd choose Lovro... and not only because it was Sochan's role XD No, wait, if it was me, I choose Lisa but if I was Chie-san, I choose Lovro XD For me, Dan wants too much to decide of other's actions^^').
_As Chie-san said on previous interviews she was afraid of zombies, the mc asked her if it wasn't too scary in the musical when all the zombies appeared. Chie-san answered it was always scary in the game or the movies but, as Lisa Martin, she wasn't afraid. She said she was especially moved by Yoshie's performance. She said we could feel the sadness and the suffering of the zombies so they weren't really ennemies. _She said too it was pretty unusual for her to fight without any weapons because, during Takarazuka, even if it sometimes happened, she usually fought with guns or swords.
_She tolds us about the submarine scene on the musical made her feel like a famous humorist performance (This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0iqZW-LjKs Chie-san said she was like the man with the cap XDDD ).
_Chie-san was asked which male role she would like to play in the musical. As everyone guessed in the audience, she answered Dan. The mc told she would like to see this version with Chie-san as Dan (me tooooooo!!!!*u*).
_She was asked too about what she likes to do when she needs energy like, for some people, it's to eat some particular food. She answered she likes to sleep a lot. Three girls of the Takarazuka's Elizabeth cast were here in the audience so Chie-san asked them how many hours they usually sleep. She said it was not enough if it was less than nine hours by night.
_At the end of the talk, Chie-san said thank you to everybody and asked us if we agree if she takes a picture of us and ulpoad it on her instagram^^ She asked us to take the "gun pose" and say "biohazard" all together .
Here is the picture:
Chie-san was soooo nice! I'm soooo proud she is now an Amuse artist <3 I can't wait to see her on stage again for the Act Against Aids concert (performing "maybe if" with Takkun and Kouki *u*) in December and for "As you like it" in February \o/
