The mystery of Edwin Drood, short review

I'm so weak when it's about plays XD I wasn't planning going to this play but, when my friend Mirukucoffee told me she will be in Japan at the end of April, she asked me it it will be possible to go to Edwin Drood together. Of course, I couldn't refused since I REALLY wanted to go to theater with her and, in addition, it was to see Kouki again on stage so... XD

I won't write a full report since it's a Broadway musical so it's easy to find the story on internet.

The main point of this musical is that the end can change everytime. The musical is from a Charles Dicken's book and he unfortunately died before writing the end so, as it's about a murder case, the public will choose the culprit.

When we enter the theater, a panel was there to show which character was the culprit for all the previous performances.

Before the beginning of the play, two of the actors/dancers were on the audience and were speaking to the audience. They asked were we are from^^ The first person answered he was from Yokohama so the actors ask the audienceif someone came from further than Yokohama. The second person said she was from Miyagi-ken so they ask if someone came from further than this, etc... I let you guess that I won when I said I came from France XD The actor asked if I didn't make a mistake by coming here and I wanted to see Takarazuka's Kenshin at first place (because Takarazuka's theater is just next to the theater where Edwin was playing) XD I said that, of course, it wasn't a mistake XD (but I will actually go to Takarazuka's Kenshin next wednesday =P ).

The first thing I really appreciated was that a real orchestra was actually on stage behind a thin black curtain. So the music was really completely in live <3

The actors were absolutely amazing and full of energy. The whole play was really funny. The dance numbers were really great and I must mentionned the gorgeous voice of the famous seiyuu Aya Hirano. I really loved Yamaguchi Yuichiro and the ancient Takazuka performer Kazuho Sou! <3

The “ensemble” cast was really great too. They even had some “solo” part like when the girls of the ensemble did an acappella version of the old famous japanes song “touch”of Younha with new lyrics to fit to the situation.

About Mizuta Kouki: Of course, it was to see him on stage that I went to this musical^^ I saw him before only for the SHL 2014 concert and event and for the musical "Jam Town" so I was really impatient to see him in another kind of role^^

His character's introduction was very funny. He tried to look cool so he took off his jacket, throw it in the air, do a sort of tumbling and tried to catch his falling jacket but missed it XD And he did this like three of four times XDDDD (one time he even do the tumbling and ended it backstage so only his jacket was left on stage XD)

At one moment, all the actors went on the audience to say hi to the public! It was so great to see Kouki that close (///>u{C}

The day I went, a group called starS was here (known as "princes of musicals" with Yoshio Inoue, Keji Urai and Ikasabura Urai). I don't know them but the audience was really enthousiastic about it^^ The actors even mentionned them on the lines during the play.

So, in the middle of the second part, we had to choose who is the culprit. For my day, the audience choose the character of Bazzard (it wasn't one of the main character but he had some line and even a song in which he said his dream is to be the main role). Apparently, the actor was one of the friends of the “StarS” who were there. The character was very happy to have been chosen as the culprit because, like this, he can have one more song XD (and he said if he is chosen as the culprit he can become a member of the StarS group =P ).

After the play, I had the chance to meet Kouki <3 I gave him my letter and present and he agreed to give me a sign and handshake <3 He was really like a real prince <3 <3 <3 I can't wait to see him in his next play “My fair lady” ^_^
