All things come to an end.

Beka had been hiding out in the walls, deciding that even with at least one friendly cat around, she couldn't gaurantee that the others would be equally sanguine about a smallish rodent that would probably be very tasty.

Adjusting to life as a hamster hadn't been easy. Sometimes, she'd remembered being a girl and had scrabbled at her prison and tried to find her way out. Other times.... Other times, her brain was small she could only remember how to survive. Water. Food. Shelter. She was lucky that Fandom High was mostly heated, leaving the spaces between the walls pleasantly comfortable.

Even more lucky that the gremlins had other hamsters to fry when she would happen by.

The hamster instinct of run, flee danger had kept her from venturing too close to them, however.

But she did occasionally wander from her safe-haven. Enough to feel perfectly safe as she quietly skittered through the deserted upper hallway. The sixth floor had undergone some freaky hyperspace bypass problem back near the beginning of school.

Which made her extremely glad there was no one around when something changed.

Believing in magic was kind of a given if you're stuck as a hamster. Feeling yourself suddenly expand and grow while the world shrank was a new experience.

If Beka had been able to think clearly, she would have compared it to free-falling off a cliff whilst drinking a glass of water upside-down and having your tonsils out. The last, of course, not something she'd experienced.

Lying on the floor, gasping for breath as her world suddenly had color and less texture and sound and smells, Beka wondered if there was anything better than being human.

Everything hurt.

After recovering enough of her wits, Beka slowly stood and eyed herself. The clothing she'd been wearing had magically reappeared, saving her the trouble of going in search of something. But she still hurt. And while she had a vague idea it had been a while, hamsters aren't exactly known for their calendar-making abilities.

Trying to decide if she wanted a shower first, or a visit to the clinic to make sure she was fine, Beka pulled a coin from her pocket, flipped it, and (carefully) headed to the attic room to shower and change before visiting the doc.
