[FilterFind 2009]

So one of the side effects of not having internet 24/7 is that I've been picking up old hobbies and interests from earlier in my life. One thing that I had done a considerable amount of work on back in high school was a project called FilterFind; it was then designed to be a program that would allow lighting designers and technicians to find comparable lighting gels across manufacturer lines. Most of the major companies already have their own versions, but there's no real one cohesive listing. The practical applications would be for, say, a tour who is using Lee filters, but needs a replacement at a house that stocks Rosco. Or, if a company is trying to exactly remount an old production, and needs to replace old Roscolene or Cinemoid colors.

My current thought is to have both an online search engine, but also publish it in a small handbook form. If I get really lucky, I'll find someone interested in making an iPhone app with the data.

Other than that, things are quiet here. I went to see my grandmother yesterday, and that was a bit tough. She's almost completely gone now, and doesn't wake up much. The worst part is that she can't eat enough to survive; she's essentially starving to death. They give her a lot of pain and anxiety medication when she is awake, so at least she doesn't really know what's happening to her.

*sigh*

I also went back to their old house and picked up a lot of my grandfather's tools, including a multitester, a pipe wrench, a small ratchet set, and a drill, among other things. So that's pretty cool. I also got a few pictures from the house, too, which hung in my great grandmother's house before that.

Still not sure what my plans are after today; waiting to hear if I have work back in Virginia Beach. If not, I'll ride back up to DC tomorrow afternoon and work through Thursday. Then, Thursday night, I'll stop in Richmond on my way back for Reaver's show at Fallout. After that - some much needed days off!
