WoW, just WoW!!!
I am a big Speed Racer fan. I wanted to grow up and marry Speed. I used to pretend I was Trixie and even dressed like her for a while and had my hair cut into a pixie cut adn wore little 'diamond' hairpins. Yup, a loooooong time Speed fan.
Ben took me to see the movie tonight and it was great. It starts out a bit catoony, but I thought was cool. The lighting special effects kind of gave me a headache to add to my migraine and I ate a hugeamundo barrle of popcorn with solt and fake butter all by myself, which probably isn't helping and now my tummy is doing a rumba.
The movie was ver different from the cartoon adn some little things bothered me, but all in all it was good. Matthew Fos was great as Racer X and I didn't like that he didn't tell Speed he was his brother ( in the cartoon he does), but he played him true to form. Spritle and Chim Chim stole the whole movie. The ricing was very unrealistic (I know - it's amovie) and confusing to watch. I don't think it was needed and I think Tim Curry would have been a much better choice as the nasty bad guy (the actor who played him was a dead ringer for him so why not just get the real thing?)
John Goodman was a dead ringer for Pops. It's amazing how he looks just like Fred Flintstone AND Pops Racer. I lived Trixie's pink helicopter!! It so rocked! I want one or at least her pink headphones.
And of course, we're in a theater that seats 150 people and there are only qbout 25 people qat the showing. So why the hell do they all have to sit around me???? With the tallest guy sitting directly in front of me. This family left the theater after the first 20 mins so that wasn't so bad. I guess the 2 ass's and damns were too much for their fragile sensibilities or it could have been the pirahnas about to eat some guy's face off or the sexual inuendos that I'm sure their little 5 year old never got. who cared they were gone and I had a clear view of the screen.
I'd like to see Ironman, but I don't think I can handle another movie until Harry comes out. Some things you just have to see on the big screen. Glad I saw Speed.
