A bit late for Torchwood. I was in Danmark for a week and only returned yesterday. The good thing is I managed to finish the second-to-last chapter of
The Shade of Somewhere Else. Less good is that I was too tired to proofread it yesterday, or read anything else for that matter. All I did was watch Torchwood and Doctor Who - can never be too tired

Grey didn't do anything for me.
Nor me. How could Jack be sure he was his brother, anyway? Or care, let alone forgive him, after how he behaved ... oh, no. Grey is Jack's "Master?" *snerk* (guess who's been watching Last of the Time Lords)
Poor Jack, no-one can get through that without going completely insane.
Which he should have, yes. Gone insane, I mean.
Jack...in 1941 three times. No, wait! Four!...He could start an orgy with himself!
And when will you be writing that fic? :D
John Hart apparently is one of the at least medium-not-evil-ones
I like the way you said that :)
This has killed one of my fanfics.
Don't let it! IMO, the progression of John Hart's character makes no sense from the one episode to the other. (I don't believe he was under Grey's control in "KKBB," although he must have rescued him by then, hence the cryptic message.) He's got to be OOC in one of those two episodes. (Hint: he pushed Jack off a building, d*mmit!) And, since it's your fic, shouldn't you get to choose? ;) I say, go with it!
I've been struggling with my own darkish fic, involving John Hart, for a couple of months now. I've been certain it was blown out of the water twice: first after the preview for "Exit Wounds," which suggested a cliched Out-for-Vengeance Hart(huh?), and then after the actual episode, when he seemed, well, almost domestic. (Is he going to drop by the Hub for tea?:D )
But, now that I've thought about it, the Insane-Grey-pulling-Hart's-strings Evil Plot suggests a motivation better than anything I've been able to come up with. If I just tweak and add a little AU here and there ... when writers give you lemons, make lemonade fic ;)
Tosh and Owen *sobs* That scene is one of the best in the entire series. But couldn't they have lived for another season or two? F***! Yeah, yeah, Owen wasn't technically alive at this point -- but he and Tosh were just getting interesting. More AU for the fic, I guess.
Hm, I wonder if Martha's coming back to the Hub next year? And can Rhys make coffee? :)
Another week to "Partners in Crime." *sigh*

That fic you're writing sound interesting. What's it about?

Sorry to reply so late -- I've been thinking about how I want to answer.
On the face of it, it's a let's-put-Ten-through-hell-and-see-how-he-recovers story. (Ten is so much fun to pick on, isn't he? ;) ) Jack and the rest of Torchwood Three are involved, so obviously I'm influenced by you and sarkywoman, among others. It started out as an idle thought along the lines of "if I wrote something like this, the Doctor would be more IC as I understand him," continued with "Should Jack really have let Capt. John sail off into the sunset after KKBB?" and began to evolve into something more complicated and more personal.
I'd really like to discuss it further, but not in this public a forum, so I'm going to send you a private message and see how it goes. OK?
