Rec-A-Weekend | Week 48

Title: Hell's Mouth
Author: sinka
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters/Pairings: Dean, Sam
Summary: When Dean tells his brother to 'pick a hemisphere' he doesn't expect him to take it literally and drop off the map. So when an eye-opening trip to the future makes him realize their separation was a mistake, he doesn't expect having to follow Sam’s trail through several countries and across the sea. And when he finally finds his wayward brother, in the old world of all places, he certainly doesn't expect Sam to give him the cold shoulder just as they get immersed in a hunt that could be just your average haunted castle - or the very mouth of Hell.
Wordcount: ~ 32,000
Why it's awesome: Notice something? This is the entry for week 48, and it actually is the 48th week of the year. I finally caught up with my schedule after not posting for a long time, and this is the story that I saved just for this occassion. Which means, of course, that it is a special story.
It is, for one, the first and almost only story of sinka, who did such a fantastic job with it that I felt ridiculously proud for being tursted to beta it (which means that all mistakes you find are my fault). And, yes, it's just an especially good story. It very smoothly ties a real Spanish legend into the world of the show, and teaches you something about Spain and its history in the process. It seriously creepy at times, and full of brilliant details. I love Sam and Dean in it, too - hurt, vulnerable, but clever Sam and guilty, protective Dean are my favourite kinds of Sam and Dean, in case you didn't notice. :)
