Well... tis wintersession.
i am taking one class, many of my friends are taking two. not sure which would be the better call for myself. i do have a nagging worry that i'll be trying to grab required credits last minute. it doesnt help that risd administration sucks.

like a bright and shiny vacuum cleaner

my class is inferior to metals II, a point of frustration.. i do hope they will make a new section for the spring. also, i am going to take that existentialism class, even if i have to threaten the professor with nihilism. heheeee *imagines a knife blade of meaninglessness*
these teachers all seem to have chronic issues with time management... but this one is the worst. he is a RAMBLER OF RAMBLERS.. i hate sitting around and wasting time i could be spending making things. seriously.. risd has some HUGE issues with organization. frustrating..

things risd needs to do:
create tighter bonds with brown including
- more compatible scheduling
- more integration of campuses and departments
- collaborative programs between
-- industrial design, engineering, and materials sciences
-- graphic/web design and computer sciences
- decreasing segregation of students
- improves feasibility of dual-degree
- allow post-matriculation application for dual-degree
reduce stratification in liberal arts requirements
- stop discouraging study of sciences by refusing to grant credits for coursework
- all courses should grant credit towards graduation
- place responsibility for crafting well-balanced education in the hands of student and advisor, instead of impersonal and generic course requirements
allowing student participation in improving school, e.g.
- improved website navigation, and other elements of system design
- improved curriculum & feedback program
- student co-operatives for sharing knowledge/sourcing materials
improved inter-departmental relationships
- remove redundancies in shop education
-- i.e. merge sculpture, ID, furniture, etc courses on metal, wood, ceramic, plastics, glass, etc
-- allows for greater cross-pollination of ideas and thinking methods
-- more efficient use of teaching hours and available equipment
-- standardized training reduces safety hazards
- allows for multi-disciplinary study & increases overall potential for students
streamline and organize administration
- document unspoken and unofficial policies
- rethink course registration process
- increase transparency
- reduce rules for the sake of rules
improve communication
- better use of campus-wide information screens & networks (FB)
- (website)
- (undocumented policies)
- centralized, organized, easily accessible information on administrative policy, social events, etc
- student advising program?
- answer your goddamn email! return calls!

embrace change and stop clinging to the status quo!
just because it works doesn't make it perfect.

i came here to learn, not to deal with red tape, waste and BS.
seriously people. COMON.
