God damn I love music.

I think everyone that knows me knows I'm something of a music enthusiast. I love listening to new and interesting music and I'm known to wear my headphones almost all the time (I often get sarcastic remarks such as "Nelson has ears?!" when I take them off.). But seriously, I fucking love music. Sometimes I think I even abuse it.

I find that I like different music at different times of day and with different moods. If I feel like relaxing in the morning I'm totally down with some jazz and soft rock some Cal Tjader, Roy Hargrove, Rosie Thomas, Nora Jones, and some of Maroon 5 and the Flaming Lips softer offerings. Perhaps around noon I'd listen to something a little heavier Maroon 5, Flaming Lips, Regina Spektor. Patrick Wolf, The Cinematic Orchestra and so on and so forth. In the afternoon I like to listen to some ELO, Seatbelts, RHCP, The Postal Service. By the evening I've given up on relaxing and usually start playing hip hop, heavier rock like Sparks, Modest Mouse, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, De La Soul, Daft Punk, Justice...

I think this is because music has the ability to greatly change my mood that I find it so great to listen to, finding a new song is like finding a new and very complex emotion unique to the song. Playlists are like a series of selected moods, I often make playlists in order to put me in a specific mood when I play them.

It also helps with my general moodiness. I'm pretty moody >_>.

On another subject, I never know what to do when I'm hanging out with two people I show a lot of affection to at any one time. I tend to go with showing much less affection than normal rather than trying to split my attention or picking one person. I really need to figure out how manage that.
