This weekend was weird. Me and Mike left at 4:00 in the morning to go to an audition in Atlanta. It was an open casting call that was supposed to start at 10. we hot there at 8:30 and it was still around 200-300 people already in line. We did not get seen until around 3:00. Some people were really good and some were really bad. I mean two supposedly serious model/actresses actually did the Oprah scene from The Color Purple. Every single black person in the world knows that damn monologue. One girl was really good, not good enough to intimidate me or anything but her monologue choice was good. A girl got up there and took so much time squeezing her eyes to make herself cry that she actually forgot to say her name. Needless to say, the day wore on a little long. The girl really wasn't feeling my monologue, but I had been standing in the sun so long I didn't care. Its not really a job that I want, but it was an experience, and I met a lot of really nice people.
I met a wonderful man who has been acting for 40 years, and he gave me a lot of insight into the business. He really reassured me that you can be a sucessful working actor, still have integrity, faith, and remain a nice and humble person. I'm going to e-mail him because he has no idea how much he helped me.
Mike leaves tonight for the big move to L.A. It hasn't really hit me yet that he's leaving but its starting to, so if I'm a little quiet at work on Monday, you all will know why.
