oh, haha, i have a tendency to mention things without explaining them, sadly.

femsex is short for Female Sexuality. it's a student-facilitated course about empowerment. subjects covered include: contraception, STIs, body image, anatomy, gender, violence against womyn, womyn's health and menstruation, power and privilege, communication, relationships, self-pleasure, sexual practices and orientation, reproductive choice, motherhood, and a lot more. it's mostly discussion-based, so i don't teach it so much as i facilitate conversation in which students learn from each other. we try our best to create a safe space where womyn feel like they can share and not be judged. it's really, really amazing and such a life-changing experience. this is my third semester facilitating and it's always a different experience. it sort of rocks.

it was started at my school (UC Berkeley) 15 years ago, and has since spread to several other schools. it's kind of exciting. =D

i'm involved in a lot of womyn's circles and activities, so vaginas have pretty much taken over my life, hahaha.

That sounds amazing! I mean, I took Women's Studies but we never got that much into any detail. Our biggest section was actually on poverty.
