NaNoWriMo: Day 7

Nov 07, 2010 23:52

Today marks the end of the 1st week of NaNoWriMo. I can hardly believe it's only been 7 days as it seems longer then that, not in a bad way, it just seems longer somehow.

Anyway, there was a write-in in town this morning that I went to and managed to do quite a bit of writing during, so I was off to a good start. I'd originally intended to do another 10k today, but when I got home after the meet, my attention was drifting quite a bit and I decided that I needed a break or I'd wear myself out. So, instead, I moved my target down to 5k and thought for a while I wouldn't even make that as I kept getting distracted by new Supernatural fic (internet = bad on the whole during NaNo), but also by old ones I found again on my hard drive (what can I say? Supernatural + NCIS = win).

I did continue to write between reading as the Muse wasn't entirely dormant and then, suddenly, great little future scenes started occurring to me and I just had to write those down before they escaped me and were lost forevermore. So, when 23:30 rolled around and I started adding up my word count for the day, I was pleasantly surprise. Very much so actually.

Stats for today:
Number of words written: 7,644
Total number of words written: 47,492
Words left to write for NaNo win: 7,508 !!!

How is it that on a day where I was so all over the place with writing and not writing and reading fic that I managed so much? I dearly wish I could strike this balance every time as it almost always goes wrong towards the reading end.
