1. LJ appeared in April 1999, the year when I…

was nine years old.  But I first posted in LG over 19 years ago!  The internet was a very different place then, but I've kept this going for so long now, how could I leave?

2. As a child, I wanted to become a…

famous bellydancer and marine biologist who studies orcas.  Neither happened, but I did teach bellydance for a while and even tried to start my own studio at one point.

3. My favorite school subject was…

anything except spelling!  Math, science, literature, art were all wonderful to me in their own ways.

4. The tune of my carefree youth is...

My youth could not be characterized as 'carefree'.  But I did love a variety of music.

5. A book (or an author) that influenced me

J.R.R. Tolkien.  Probably a cliché answer, but I loved the themes of his works and also his way with words.

6. A city (or cities) I truly love

Barcelona first and foremost.  Hampton, VA; Pittsburgh, PA; Boston, MA all have a special place in my heart as well.

7. I started an LJ blog in …

2005

because I wanted...

shout my teenage angst into the newly discovered internet.  I actually re-read some of my first entries last month on my 19 year LG-versary and man was I cringy!  lol

Breath

12. An LJ post I’d like to recommend to everyone…

This one!  Bahaha

13. I’m proud of…

Doing what I can to make the best of the hand I was dealt in Life.

14. If I could give advice to myself from 1999, I’d…

say...I'm not sure.  Nine year old me probably wouldn't have been very receptive anyway.  I don't know about advice, but I would tell myself it is going to be okay.  That I do end up making it out of the abusive cult I was raised in, that I do make it on my own despite being told all growing up that I never would.  It can be hard most days, but it is worth it.

15. My favorite LJ blog(s)

I only very recently came back to LG.  It seems everyone I used to follow hasn't made a post in a year or more.  So I am open to any recommendations.

16. My favorite LJ community (-ies)

Same answer as above.

17. A dish (or a food product) I learned to like only as an adult:

Many!  I was a very picky eater growing up.  Things I eat now that I wouldn't then include: tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms. seafood, and onions.

18. Within these 25 years I’ve visited…

Many many places.  Pretty much all up and down the East Coast of the United States, Colorado, Madrid, Barcelona, Nimes, Nice, Rome, and Florence.  I think that pretty much sums it up.

19. My favorite cure for sadness is…

Sounds really cheesy, but writing down three things I am grateful for.  If you're skeptical, I say to just give it a try.

20. If I didn’t have to work, I’d do…

A lot of traveling and a lot of animal and ecological work.

21. My superpower is…

Overcoming toxicity

22. A useful skill I’d like to teach younger generations is…

the basics of personal finance.

23. If I could spend a day as an animal, that would be…

awesome!  Orca all the way!

gracefully and slowly.

25. I’m grateful to LJ for…

Giving me a place to tell the truth to strangers who might be able to relate.
