I just got home from Myrtle Beach today. What a trip! I went with 22 1/2 of my closest family members. It was good and bad (just as most vacations are wont to be). Good stuff: the beach, spending time with various family members, the beach, burying Will in the sand, the beach, seashells, the beach, outlet shopping, the beach, reading 3 whole books, the beach, getting a henna tattoo, the beach, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (they have amazing mint cookie shakes), the beach, new swim suit cover up, the beach, 2 pairs of new shoes, and, my personal favorite, the beach.
I really, truly love the beach. I love the saltwater, the waves, the way the moon looks down on the ocean, the tides, the sand dunes, seashells. I love every bit of it (except maybe the way sand gets into bathing suits).
The not so good stuff that I've been trying to gloss over: cutting my foot so bad on the second day that I couldn't go to the beach or putt-putting and the scary hotel. The hotel was getting to be a dump. My family has stayed at this hotel about 3 or 4 times in the past five years and this time it was just a disaster. We all agreed that we wouldn't be going back. And for 22 1/2 people to agree on something - that's pretty big. My mom has plans for a email detailing to them what went wrong. The only other not so good thing was getting sunburned on the second to last day. My arm is still pupley-red. It would be impressive if it didn't hurt so bad.
Coming home today was good. I'm glad to be back in my own bed. The very best part of coming home was seeing my Maggie-Doggy. I missed her a whole lot on our trip. Andrea, my cousin who stayed with her, assured us that she was pretty good (besides eating some cardboard, a pen, and a can of AXE spray).
