"Fair" is definitely a judgment call. If we change to sales tax only & we're taxed too much, we'll either buy less or find ways to buy things unofficially without paying taxes. Would it be easier to avoid paying your income taxes or sales taxes? With only 5% sales tax, we don't care to cheat (as is seen with cigarette smuggling in Maryland). What ( Read more... )
