Check out uuworld.org : The 'it' church

I wanted to blog about my day at church yesterday & thought I didn't have the time, but I guess I'll make the time (I have photos [thanks to Gia for taking them], I guess I'll put them on Facebook when I have more time): Music Sun. I sang and signed an Italian opera piece. The children were there for the whole service, so by the end I thought they might be getting antsy, though our music director did a great job of involving them and having fun rounds to sing for the whole congregation. Since 5 of them got up in the beginning to sign the Spirit of Life, to have some more interest in this opera, I told them to find the sign that I sign that is in the Spirit of Life - which was a fun game for them. I explained how the song tied with our 2nd and 6th principle: in order to have justice in the world, we need justice in human relations & this was a song about a woman in pain asking her caring community (like our church is) to "allow her distress (emotional pain)" and not to pity her which some people might like, but others don't, so we have to respect their feelings - part of our 2nd principle.

I had many compliments about my singing. I never thought I could sing opera (thanks to Denise who suggested it & is giving me voice lessons). We have our monthly open mike this Sat. and someone suggested I sing it again there.

We also had a wonderful child pianist, some meaningful choir songs, and several instrumental pieces. Great day!
