FIRST DAY.

She had been cut open, right there, right in the middle of the tracks, right for everybody to see. Blood was splattered everywhere; flecks of crimson were sprayed against the bottom of the platform that the eight remaining stood on - were slowly backing away from, scrambling over each other as their breaths caught in their throats, horrified. She had been cut open, and everything that was supposed to have been inside was now outside, and she didn't look right. Didn't look human. Didn't look the way she was supposed to. Bones smashed in against her face, with half the skin missing, and then there was just sinewy muscle left. Nothing else. It was wrong. Not human. Couldn't have possibly been human.

But it was.

And, surely, they hadn't been expecting that, when the first one stirred, when she opened her eyes and saw what she had never seen before, what she never wanted to see ever. The others had been pulled from their sleep by Kit's screams, and it had jolted them awake, hadn't it? They had all pulled away from each other, sat up, and Kelly had been reaching for Kit's shoulder when they all saw, and stopped, and yes, it was wrong. Not human, not human, not human.

Oh, but it was.

"Oh, shit," soft murmurs passed on from one person to another, and Jackie was working her fingers through her hair, swearing beneath her breath. "Shit. What's happening?"

They had all moved down from the platform (nearly tripping over the stairs), backing away, back toward the dimly-lit city that beckoned them closer, beckoned them nearer. Huddled together, despite the fact that one of them was now dead, and despite the fact that it could have been someone, anyone, and they had no idea. Had no idea who it was. And now there was this city, this strange city with the iron gate about it; there was no escape. No way for them to leave. The worst part of it was that they couldn't remember how they got there, what led to them ending up there, and it should have been so obvious. Should have been right there, on the tip of their tongue. Why couldn't they remember?

Fingers curled in against Julia's jacket as Rei tilted her head up, toward the darkened morning skies above her. "Where are we?"

"... You guys."

"Not right now, Gen--"

"No, you guys, really. Look."

Everyone's head turned in the direction that Gen's finger was pointing, back toward the train station, and at first, there was nothing. Nothing, until their eyes adjusted to the dark, and then there was a man, sitting on the edge of the platform, watching them with a quiet expression and a tilt of his head. When he slid down onto the gravel beneath, took a step forward, the small gasps of surprise, nervousness, echoed in the night air as the eight girls backed up. But he looked normal enough, didn't he? Slightly tattered jeans that didn't completely go with the tie, with the jacket, he wore, and dark hair, and dark eyes, but there was something about his smile. Something about that smirk, the way it looked on that face, it wasn't right, either. Spoke of years of a certain kind of knowledge that they had never seen before; it wasn't right for someone who must have only been nineteen-years-old - maybe twenty - and why was he looking at them like that?

"They can be so messy," he said, finally, and his voice carried, despite him being several yards from them. He shook his head, tapped the ash from his cigarette, and took another step forward, then another, then another. "Sarai, was it? She had been a pretty one, too. It's a shame what they did to her."

"Who the hell--"

"Ah, ah." His hand moved up to silence Ranan from speaking further, and he kept moving forward (just as they kept moving back), until finally, there was nowhere else for them to go. Until they were back, pressed against the brick wall of a building, and he stood feet from them. "Welcome, ladies, to the city. It's beautiful, isn't it? Perfect to get lost in. Perfect to run in. Perfect to scream in -- no one else is around. Not for miles."

He reached a gloved hand out, fingers trailing their way along Sarritichi's hair as she jerked back, and he smiled again. That same smile.

"Perfect to die in."

Dark eyes tilted down, focused on the trembling girls in front of him, and that smile remained. But now it was obvious why he was smiling the way he was, and they could only stare, mouths open, as he turned, dropping his cigarette and crushing it into the hard ground beneath him with the sole of his shoe.

"We're going to play a little game."

LOL THAT WAS SO LONG. God, I need to write these things shorter, before I end up killing you guys off from all the tl;dring.

EVERYONE: You have until 9 PM EST to vote for who you want to boot.

Get to it, and good luck. ♥
