Yeah, if I remember rightly, Gabrielle sent Hope floating on up the stream in the previous episode - but I could understand her motivations for doing that, given that Xena had no concrete proof she was evil. She must have been incredibly naive (and stupid!) to go to Ming Tien and tell him that Xena was planning on assassinating him, though - she had to know he wouldn't really be willing to forgive and forget an attempt on his life, and that Xena wouldn't have considered honouring Lao Ma's request if he wasn't a dangerous man. From my recollection, it almost seemed like she did the whole thing out of spite, because she was so hurt that Xena shut her out and wouldn't share that facet of her life with her. So she still gets a smack for that one from me LOL.
Joxer made me laugh every now and again, but I did find him mildly irritating for the most part. I never shared the outright hate towards the poor guy, though - I mean, I could understand why he was so infatuated with Gabrielle, after all; and his heart was always in the right place!
Oh yea, that's why Season Three was so awesome. I love that they fucked each other over and that those moments would, eventually, be forgiven - but not before massive deconstruction of character. Gabrielle is not an innocent child. Xena is not always right and always 'adult'. And Gabrielle going to China [or Chin as it were] was out of spite (and jealousy), all of it. Xena keeping secrets was old-hat and she expected Gabrielle to just take it. Neither of them did what the other expected, out of misguided insecurities and pain... so I still smack them both and then hug them both [lol] ;D If you've not watched Forget Me Not in a while, you gotta. It is the best clip-show ever and it allows more of Gabrielle's motivations. It is, in a word, awesomesauce.
God, Angel Callisto really was boring. Parts of this episode are really good and others are just really WTF? worthy. Another one being going to Hell (and having to stay there, essentially) because the wimpy angels dropped 'em. *rolls eyes*
She was super boring and I never understood why they did that. Gah, Season Five was a hot mess.
And yes! What a horrible reason to end up in Hell! I had not even thought of that aspect to the episode... sheesh! I was too caught up in the green wings I guess [lol].
Now, my Gabby-loving fangirl heart was about to make some protests, but I have to agree with you on all five. Especially with how she treated Joxer most of the time, poor guy.
And I'll agree that Angel Callisto was way less interesting than regular, psychopath Callisto, but Gabrielle forgiving her in FA is one of my favorite scenes. But as much as I ♥ FA, I was bothered by the fact that she'd agree to kill Xena. Luckily they were both zapped back to life so we never have to find out what would have happened.
And you picked some stuff I never would have thought of, so even cooler.:)
2) Gabrielle marrying Perdicus.
Okay. I mean... OKAY, subtext is so freakin' heavy in this one. But even if you took that away and it is just two friends (really close friends who really love each other. A LOT.) When Gabrielle actually does it, actually marries Perdicus and I KNOW she sees how it is affecting Xena. Xena looks crushed and lost and ALONE. And Gabrielle goes right out that door. [SMACK!]
YES! I mean, I admit, that at in this point in the series I was still very much the romantic friendshipper, but even from that perspective this was downright cruel. As you pointed out, it wasn't the fact that she fell in love with a man or made that choice, it was the attitude and how she seemed so completely oblivious to how she was ripping Xena's heart out and she just made the decisions and took off so easily. It just took her So Long to realize what she meant to Xena.
3) Gabrielle's unawareness of an emotionally wounded Joxer. This is

So glad you agree with my Joxer reason. I love that character. Admittedly, the writers used him mostly for comedic relief, but the few times they allowed the character to develop - it was wonderful to see. And I don't like all the anti-Joxer attitude that can be prevalent in the XWP community. I still get upset when I watch Livia. :(
Then again, I may have just gotten charmed by him, too, due to unavoidable shades of Borias.;)

I agree with all of them... :sighs: wish I hadn't gotten rid of the boxsets now:

Great choices, but I probably would've added her betrayal from 'The Debt,' too.

And then hug them...lol ;D
