The Week in Pop

What I Watched:
Not a whole lot on the movie front to report. I watched Pride and Prejudice and The Princess Diaries again, as well as a cheesy Lifetime movie that I got sucked into called To Have and To Hold. However, I did watch two fabulous new movies. Mames and I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix the day it came out and it was, of course, wonderful. It just felt like it went by so quickly! I wanted it to last foreverrrr haha. Oh man. Last night I saw Hairspray with Cin and the camp girls and IT. WAS. FABULOUS. Seriously. I would go see it again. I had no idea how funny it would be, which is part of the reason I need to watch another time because I couldn't even catch everything the first time! And the music is just so freakin catchy. Inspired cast. I really can't say enough good things about it!! And currently I'm about halfway through High School Musical and it's pretty cool, but I think I would like it better if I was actually still in high school :-)
On TV this week were two excellent shows that I should be on. The World Series of Pop Culture was back for its second season and this time around I do believe I knew the answers to a good 90% of the questions. Therefore, I'm gonna need to find two other stellar useless information connoseiurs and enter next year! And just when I thought there couldn't be another show more perfect for me to be on, along came Don't Forget the Lyrics, which also happens to be my next expertise. I am forever correcting people's lyric recitations haha. This show is so fun to watch though because it's like karaoke... and who doesn't like karaoke?!

What I Listened To:
Not a whole lot really. VH1 streamed the debut album from a group called A Fine Frenzy. Basically she sounds like Sarah McLachlan, and the music is really good. They're currently streaming Hanson's The Walk and Silverchair's Young and Modern, which you can also hear here for as long as you want.

What I Read:
For any fans of the novel Walk Two Moons, I read another book by the same author (Sharon Creech) called Ruby Holler. Amazon does a better job than me of describing it:
"Having suffered through a string of appalling foster homes, 13-year-old orphan Dallas and his twin sister, Florida, have pretty much given up on ever finding a happy home. So when an eccentric older couple enters their lives, providing such adventures as a river expedition, a treasure hunt (of sorts), and a whole lot of remarkable meals, the twins take a while to warm up. Florida's language teems with outrageous, telling negativity--everything is "putrid"--and even dreamy Dallas is inclined to bouts of doubt. But warm up they do, to the continual delight of readers of all ages."
I have also started rereading the Harry Potter books before I read the last one. Yes, I realize that book seven is already out, but I've been a bit busy :-P  So anyway, I have so far made it through Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It'll probably take me at least a couple more weeks to get through the rest of them, and if you have book 7 I might be hittin you up to borrow it :-)
