(no subject)
So I went ahead and got a paid account. It's kind of weird because I only bought it for the extra userpic space, but I couldn't help it. I really wanted to expand my range of userpics. Except now I think I have too much...I could fill the space up with other icons I've gotten. But I have this weird thing where I try to have only one icon from each of the fandoms I like. Why? No real reason for it really. It's just what I do...*shrugs*
So let's see...so far I'm thinking of getting an icon of Ryou Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh, because I used to have one of him that I made myself, but it sucked so much that I got rid of it. And an icon of Crane from Kung Fu Panda, because I am loving him more and more for some reason. And maybe an icon of Woody from Toy Story too. Hmm....so many icons to think about....
On another note, I gacked this meme from beckyh2112. I've wanted to do this for a while because it looked kind of interesting and fun.
30-day Fanfic Writing Meme
Day 1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
I think I might have mentioned this somewhere before, but I first started writing fanfiction when I really started getting into Dragonball Z. I hit kind of an obsession, and being new to the fandom I was just researching as much as I could about it when I stumbled across fansites filled with lots of fanfiction. I was curious enough and read through a few of them; some were pretty good, and some weren't so good. And, being the young, know-it-all teenager I was at the time, I decided that I could probably write better stories than some of the stuff I was reading. So I gave it a try, and have been writing fanfiction ever since.
Looking back, the stories I wrote were no better than some of the stuff I was trying to show up. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were a lot worse, haha. Serves me right, really. ^^;
As for the fandom itself, I honestly have no idea what pulled me into DBZ in the first place. I caught a little bit of the series when I was younger, but I think I watched the DBZ movies more than the actual show. And this was back during the first FUNi dub of DBZ, when the Frieza saga was only halfway finished. So at the time, the only movies that were out were Dead Zone, The World's Strongest, and Tree of Might, the first and third movies being my particular favorites. But the second movie is what drew me into the relationship between Gohan and Piccolo, which I found particularly sweet. The episode in the series where Piccolo sacrificed himself to save Gohan is what clinched it for me though.
