Ended up getting my first tattoo this year, too. I've been an enthusiast when it came to piercings but I never really went out of my way to get a tattoo until this past March. My ex, the one I brought up in the past said he would give me permission to get a tattoo once I got my weight down. Well, after dropping his weight and some of my own I ended up getting what I wanted after all these years. I don't think it will be the last tattoo, honestly.
I like the overall symbolism behind the phoenix especially when it comes to my own life and personal growth. I am still in the process of rebuilding even while going through a few losses. The fight isn't over until the flame is snuffed out and the ashes are no longer smoldering. I reflect on my past life, yes, but there isn't anything to gain if I don't move on and burn brighter than before.
Fall Out Boy, Sailor Mars (I'd be lying if I didn't say I listented to 'Fire Soul Bird In Love' in my younger years) and Ezra (Ephoenix from Warcraft) have all been major factors in me deciding to get this piece. The colors for it came from the color scheme of Ashes of A'ar for Ezra/Epheonix.
