Computer HATE

This posts teems with computer HATE. My computer at work did something funky, and since I found all the installation disks for every computer in the office EXCEPT mine, I had to do a complete reinstall. Annoying, but we didn't lose any files, so if I have to reinstall a few programs, eh, whatever ( Read more... )

At least you know enough to even fake a veneer of intelligence. Me, I sob immediately something goes wrong, the tech guy comes and he's like... but you didn't have the wires hooked up properly.

Having said that... Windows 3.1? O_o

I kind of cackled maniacally and showed everyone when I dug up the Win 3.1 disks and the DOS drivers for my printer. I was walking the fine, fine line of going completely insane.

My fake veneer of intelligence is mostly that I will not give up on it until I exhaust every option that I can remotely think of. Scientific method: if not this variable, maybe it's that variable; and combining with that the influence of old text-based adventure games where any idea, no matter how STRANGE and improbable, should be tested ("Use banana with Metronome; take monkey; use monkey on water pump, etc.").

Also, I know deep in my heart that sometimes the computer will be mean to you for no freaking reason at all other than IT WANTS TO BE.

This may or not help you out. Have you tried checking your computers Bios? Check to see if your network adapter is enabled. If its enabled, then I can't help you. To get into your systems Bios, you have to press one of the f+number functions on the top, I just don't specfically remember which one, its either F5 or F8, or it could be F2. I hope that helps. :) You have to press one of the function keys at start-up, especially before thw windows version your using pops up. If you have any other computer problems, just let me know. I'll try to help you the best I can. If anyone else has problems, don't be afraid to ask. :)

That's a good idea. When the computer first went funky I checked it, but nothing was wrong. The adapter was working then. All I did was wipe the drive and install a new upgraded operating system so I didn't even think to look at the BIOS. I'll check tomorrow.
