Tickling our funny bone
McCain jokes with Letterman. Obama and McCain dress up in penguin suits and tease each other. Palin is rumored to appear on Saturday Night Live. We suddenly seem to have an election that looks a lot like the Last Comedian Standing.
Who's funnier? The Democrats or the Republicans? (I'm sort of joking about this question...) Is it savvy or stupid for Palin to appear on a show that skewered her mercilessly? Many people think Bush's strongest virtue (so far as getting elected counts) lay in his ability to tell a joke. Is this a quality we want in our leaders?
