Asking for a bit of help!

Does anyone have any advice to give, to someone who's looking to start up with commissions? Or where I can go to see what other people are doing, how much they're charging for things, and what services they use to make their own buttons, prints, etc ( Read more... )

Mn, yeah, there's certain things about freelancing that I'm already familiar with. Like actually dealing with clients themselves. I won't be working with any client that expects me to make changes to whatever it is that I'm doing and not get paid for the time it takes to do it. I'm also completely familiar with the staging process; clients are babies, gotta hold their hand for the entire time.

I already mentioned that I worked for almost 4 years in a studio, and the people I worked for were pretty much some of the worst clients you could end up with. XD So that actually really prepared me to work with stubborn, fickle people. x_x

I think the information I'm more looking for has to do with pricing and the business end of things. Contract forms, paperwork, networking, just getting my name out there. I have no idea if I'd actually be able to make a living off of doing stuff like this and I have a feeling that I'm going to end up doing more "normal" freelancing, in terms of web site design and graphic design. I've heard of people who've been able to make a lot of money from selling their art and doing commissions at conventions but I guess in the meantime I'll have to maybe think about graphic design contracts, since I *know* I can get a lot of money for that. :X

Thanks for taking the time to get that info for me though, I really appreciate it. ^_^
