When people talk about idols, what do they say?
They say, idols have everything. Looks, charms, fame, admirers, money. Everything.
So was he.
Yamada Ryosuke.
Everybody knew he was the star. He was one of the most famous teen idol in the entire Japan. People thought he had had everything that every human had wished for.
But no one thought he could lost them with just a blink of eye.
That night was dark and gloomy. Yamada had just finished his CM shooting and was ready to go to another shooting location for JUMP’s new PV. With his manager, they rode the agency’s car.
His manager, Julie, told the driver to be hurry because they were already late. The rain had just stopped so the road became slippery. The driver had told her about it but she was insisted.
It happened so fast. A truck was coming from ahead. The driver became panic and he steered the car to another side. Yamada’s car slipped out from the road and fell to the deep ravine.
Julie and the driver died. Only Yamada who survived from that accident.
His agency was relieved that Yamada was still alive. They were worried if they would have lost their source of money.
But after seeing his current condition, they changed their mind.
At the accident, his car was on fire. Residents could only save Yamada from being entirely burnt and before the car exploded.
Yamada was rushed to the hospital in his critical condition. Almost his entire body was burnt. He had almost been left unrecognized before the nurses found his ID card.
His agency found out that Yamada wouldn’t be able to continue his career in the entertainment world anymore. He became handicapped. Nobody could tell that he was Yamada Ryosuke by seeing his face right then. It was awful. He was not handsome anymore. He was ugly. His skin face had been melted by the heat of fire and there were disgusting burnt wounds on his whole body. His hair had been completely vanished by the fire. And one of his leg must have been amputated due to the fatal wound.
Because of his condition, his agency decided to discard him from Johnny’s Entertainment. He couldn’t make money for them anymore. At first, his fans had still supported and encouraged him to recover. But then, one by one they gave up on Yamada, seeing that there was no opportunity for him to come back. Beside, they didn’t want an ugly and handicapped idol to be admired.
Yamada Ryosuke had completely lost everything. His good looks, his career, his fame, his fans, his money, everything.
Many people were sure that Yamada wanted to die. No one thought he could live anymore after losing every precious things he had had in a painful way.
But they were wrong.

That afternoon, Yamada wanted to go outside from his room. He hardly got up from his bed and took a seat on his wheel chair.
It was sunny. A warm beam immediately shot him, making him smile. Well, at least he could feel the warm even though his body was covered with bandages.
That day was special. It was his 18th birthday. Don’t expect that he hoped everything he had lost would turn back, because he never did. He was thankful to God. God had made him realized that not everything in this world was eternal.
And that he had one thing he must treasure the most.
“YAMA-CHAAAAN~!”
From afar, he could hear high-pitched voices of Chinen and Yuto calling him. He turned around and smiled.
“There you are! We were so worried when we didn’t find you in your room!” that was Yabu, the Mama of their group.
All of his bandmates from Hey!Say!JUMP made their ways to Yamada, who had been sitting on the balcony near hospital’s lobby.
The first thing he received was a huge glomp and tackle from Chinen.
“Yama-chan, we miss you!! The concert without you felt so incomplete!”
“Ahahaha... Chinen’s right. We were confuse when there was no front man in JUMP anymore...” Takaki spoke.
“And there was only Yabu-kun who sang most of our song lines...”
“Oi, Ryutaro. Didn’t you hear my singing? I have a good voice too, and I got several solo lines,” Inoo poked Ryutaro’s cheek.
“Keito sang better,” Ryutaro stuck his tongue out to Inoo, earning a pinch from the pretty boy.
“Minna! Don’t forget our first purpose of coming here!” Daiki lifted a huge white box on his hands.
“You’re right! Yama-chan, guess what thing is in that box!” Yuto chirped.
Keito and Yuto lifted the lid of that box, revealing a huge cake full of strawberries.
“Ja-jaaan~!”
Yamada’s eyes widened in delight.
“We’ve chosen the best and the biggest red strawberries for this cake, yo!” Daiki beamed.
“Happy birthday, Yama-chan~!”
They all sang the birthday song for Yamada. Takaki lit the candles and after the song was over, they let Yamada blow the candles.
When they got Yamada to say something, he cried instead.
“Minna... Arigatou...”
Hikaru patted Yamada’s back, trying to soothe him.
“Without your courage, I wouldn’t be able to live until now... You guys never forget me unlike other people, I’m so thankful... Arigatou...”
His bandmates smiled. They all approached and hugged him in their embraces.
“Yama-chan will always be a member of JUMP, and will always be in our heart.”

Yamada Ryosuke is still alive, and will always be alive.
Because even though he has lost everything, he still has one thing. The only thing that still cares for him and is still encouraging him to live his life.
He still has his best friends. His bandmates from Hey!Say!JUMP.
