an update
i'm sick of seeing Excessive Heat Warning every morning on the Weather Channel. i knew we would pay for the mild spring somehow-and now we are paying.
went to action city two weekends ago for birthday month. got some good fishing time in. the urthling played in the river as i fished there-managed to catch 2 fish, one too small to keep, and then the last worm caught a fish that was stronger than my 10 lb. line so it took my hook and sinker. the next morning dad took us across the river to the practice pond where we fished for bass and bluegills. dad caught most of the fish and let us take them all home. had them for supper monday evening and the urthling went to town on the fish!
this past weekend i did a much needed deep cleaning in preparation for my parents coming up to watch the urthling while she doesn't have pre-school. moved furniture and mopped, dusted and emptied all sorts of little containers to sort and get rid of dirt.
also been spending time working on the urthling's scrap book for vacation. she is enjoying looking at the pictures and "helping" me. i try to distract her with beading which is something she's gotten into at pre-school.
this past sat. we went to the art show at the urthling's pre-school. i really, really like Sunshine Acres-the urthling has gotten swimming lessons this summer at a pool about a block away, they had a music class, and they took them to the county fair last week. i had to laugh about the art show. they studied Georgia O'Keeffe and the art was organized by project-shades, sculpture, landscapes, etc. the urthling may not be much of an artist-some kids had several paintings in each of the different sections-and some were damn good! the urthling had about 3 items total. she is all excited about dance class tho and i think that at the moment, that is where her interest and energy lay.
ahh-just had to direct my mom on remote control boxes so they could get tv while my dad does some work upstairs. i guess they have been outside all morning so it is okay for some morning tv.
i started going thru the prayers that i got out of the Carmina Gadelica. used a house blessing for the first time at my hearth altar and i think i really like it. been using a prayers from Cei Serwith's Book of Pagan Prayer, but i was never totally satisfied.
semester starts next week, dorms open this weekend-the insanity has started but will get full blown next week. will be going down to action city again at the end of the month to see thebcman's sister while she is in town. then it will be september and hopefully autumn will start expressing its self a little more. i've really started to yearn for autumn, and just not because of the heat-the wheel turns.
i hope the painters return-they've power washed my house and started to scrape a little. they are missing out on prime scraping and painting days-no rain!! they've had their equipment wagon in my drive for close to 2 weeks now and their power-washer chained to my deck since we were at Cliff Island.
